Akella (Sea Dogs, POTC, Age of Sail II) finally released their PT Boat sim in the US late last year. It's about time; PT Boats has been underway six years. Subsim first previewed the game at the 2004 E3 show, and it was pretty far along then. In an interview three years later, it was expected the game would ship in months. One can only imagine the development process that took longer than WWII. Well, it's here now. Really.

Review here. (http://www.subsim.com/2010_02/review_ptboats_feb2010.php)

Good review, and 64 is a decent score. I'll probably wait until the price drops a little bit before I consider purchasing for a 64.

It's too bad they didn't do the US PT boats, Jessica loves JFK and that probably would have been a nice catch-line to get her playing subsims next :O:

Thanks, Neal. When I saw the word "immersion" I involuntarily cringed a little, then clicked the link and laughed my butt off. :har::rotfl2:

Goood review, gives a pretty good idea what the game is about. Will probably buy it once I figure how to import it without it costing an arm and a leg for shipping.

Good review, it seems you played a good deal of the game. PT Boats sounds fun, but I think I may try this game when the price drops. Without a good campaign or some kind of scenario generator, the game is not worth the normal $50 game price point.

This game is based on the Storm Engine (POTC, Sea Dogs, etc) and I have extensive modding experience (specifically, in making ship handling more realistic), but I'm a bit put off by the very limited gameplay offered.

Might stick to POTC for the New Horizons beta ( which I've contributed to).

There have been submarine sims, naval sims with battleships, cruisers, and destroyers, but this game is the first to feature the speedy buy lethal Motor Torpedo Boats, or as they were called in the US--Patrol Torpedo, PT BoatsMaybe you're making a clear distinction, but I used to play the cracking PT 109 simulator in the late 80s and early 90s.
