I very much agree with it. The many EU presidents of this and that remind me of an operetta choir dressed in eye-blending fantasy uniforms. And of course each and everyone of them considers himself to be VERY important.
Geez, Such shameless toadying. I liked it better when the Euros didn't like us.

You know Skybird, what I hate is not that Obama is coming or ignoring the EU. What I hate is how our EU crooked politicians bend over themselves (and us in the process) to always satisfy "bilateral agreements" with the US, all the while the US does not. Bilateral agreements that are bilateral only in name not in fact.
Its like having 2 children, the US says what is mine is mine and what is yours is also mine, and the other child the EU says ok.
One is a bully, the other is just plain stupid.

Sometimes it is like that, but not always. What I hate about this story is this endless narcissism of some political actors who think that it is a show all about themselves - and at the same time, as you said, bend over at every opportunity to get their daily dosis of "feel you good you are so great" treatement by an assumed idol. There are so many supreme chief-boss-heads of EU-XYZ, plus the governmental narcissists and heads of national governments, that one could simply burst in laughter if only these very highl major superior VIPs would not cause so many damages everywhere - and then have the nerve to tell European people that they are working for their interest where in fact they are only about their own ego and self-interest.
It all is so sick, so corrupted, so very rotten.

Describes probably every government in history. I don't really follow politics much, just my two cents. I'll go back to lurking in the thread before I start talking out of my...

I find the curent situation to be fine.
The EU (as a unit) gets snubbed, but each individual nation still has their own unique relationship with USA.
It spells less clout and recognition for the EU. This is a good thing.
Each nation is still treated individualy. This is an even better thing.
