I've been playing B17 - The mighty Eighth and realized how much I miss the games Microprose created.

A third installment in that series is well overdue plus the countless other simulations they produced.

How I miss my early days of PC gaming.

I LOVE Mechwarrior III. In my opinion, it's the best mech game ever made and no mech game that's come out after it can even hold a candle to it. The only problem is that it HATES Windows XP, even if you change the compatability mode. You end up with enemy units bouncing all around like they were those rubber superballs, not to mention the game crashing every couple minutes. The only way I can imagine running it is to have a virtual machine running Windows 98, or a dual boot to Windows 98. It's sad that there's no patches out there to fix it for XP.

It's unfortunate when a once big name publisher goes out of business and since the games they made have stopped being supported there are no patches to allow continued use...

The whole Mechwarrior line is due to be released for free sometime in the future IIRC. I will look it up Tuesday and post the link if no one beats me to it.

PLayed that and this for hours on end back in the day:

Played F-19 a bit too but preferred the F-117 because it ended up flying for real in combat.

Anyone else here who played the Commodore Amiga version?

I liked Jane's WWII flight simulator as well. That was my very first sim.

Mech3 was the best of the series IMO as well. It was must damn good. I used my flight joystick to play as well. That made it really cool. I do recall the compatibility mode for 98/xp. It would crash from time to time. Great game.

As far as B-17/Mighty Eight, this could have been a real gem. I did enjoy playing it. Such a shame it was put out to pasture. I also miss MS Combat Flight Simulator 2. Replaced by IL2 eventurally when MS did not support anymore and the servers were taken down.
