Current status:
$370 - A Pre-filled air tank for one (No hose or mask)

Previously: $270 - A small diving tank
Neal thinks that if everyone who came to Subsim donated $5 we could buy a sub (LINK (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=161464)).

But what kind of submarine could subsim really buy?
An oil barrel with some weights attached to it or a nuclear armed next-gen. monster?

It seems to me that there is only one way to find out...

Hypothetically, how much would you donate to Subsim to buy the website it's own sub? (USD only please)

I'll start with $20

Added to what we had, that's enough for an oxygen hose. If only we had a air tank and a mask to attach our new hose to.

Not quite the terror of the sea yet...:arrgh!:

For a submarine? I'd toss in $10-25, depending on what we'd do with said submarine ;)

I will throw in $5 when I can. A guy in china built a real working submarine for $20 out of a bunch of junk. Ill try to dig up a video, he tested it in some rice patty's.

But can he terrorize and destroy the unfortunate merchant marine with it? :06:

Do you really want to dive in that tho?

Hello,
Cool thread.
Maybe we'd get an Alfa (Lyra) for free, without reactor, if we promise to remove it from the russian docks ourselves ...
Or maybe with melted reactor and clogged cooling system :D

Greetings,

We could have had the Juliet used in the movie K-19 if we'd payed the scrap value and towing fees.

Not if you don't offer a donation!

Hmm, are we covering the costs of extraneous equipment or just the hull itself? :hmmm:

I'd help for the Alfa fund. Make it diesel electric. I'm sure there's enough mechanics (myself included) and enough electricians (red means power...black means ground and that's about it for me) not to mention the surprising amount of other submariners around here on the forums. I'd love to see that happen. We would have to paint it some odd color (operation petticoat came to mind first, don't shoot the messenger) so nobody think's we are terrorist boneheads.

I offer two pints of my blood which can be sold or used at Neals discretion.

That has to be worth like 50 bucks right there, 100 if Neal's a Vampire. :rotfl2:

An extra $70 tallyed up.

50 bucks.....easily.....:woot:...

I'd even throw in a couple of MG34's for top cover........base it in the Caribbean. Good excuse to take a vacation there. Or move there.....(retired, you know)

Hmm, still young, not that bad. Might have a defect though; I'd have it checked out, but I dislike doctors grabbing my balls. :88)

How about an arm and a leg?

That's enough to give you command of the boat on the "Guinea Pig run"

Just so long as it doesn't include the first deep dive test :o:DL
