First of all I am sorry if this topic has already been covered but I'm inherently lazy and can't be bothered to trawl the topics and I find the search utility hard to master as I don't get much luck with it. I have a Dell XPS 630i with the following specs Processor E8500 @3.16ghz Memory 4Gb 800mhz ATI Radeon 5850 1Gb Vista 32bit OS Now according to Ubisoft this fits the recommended specs for SH5 but we all know about software companies and their recommended specs. Just think of Microsoft with their recommendations for Flightsims, they are way out. Does anyone think, or know due to inside info, my specs will be good enough to take advantage of all the upcoming eye candy? I sure hope they are as I can't wait for it to be released and have my copy pre ordered.http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for posting the specs, looks like I'd be passing even without the other issues as I don't think my machine would've been powerful enough anyway. Issues of concern are:-

Processor - I have a 3.4GHz Pentium D.

Hard drive space - only have 1.5GB left, although I'm planning on getting a bigger one once I've got my head round whether I can get a SATA one compatible with my current mainboard (no point getting a PATA one as the next mainboard probably won't have those ports) and the best method of cloning the existing PATA unit (assuming the two will co-exist).

Possibly the graphics card - I have an ATI Radeon X1650 Pro AGP.

Never mind, more money saved.

It seems that I meet the specs but I'm always sceptical about developers recommended specs and time will tell. The more it gets modded the more these specs may be inadequate. I found this out when I used the GWX mod with SH3 a couple of years ago. It took an ATI Radeon 1650 Pro to sort that out I also have trouble running Rise of Flight adequately on my current PC when there is a populated sky but It should be able to run it fine even though I'm running a duo Core and not a Quad. Saying all that though, I can't wait to get my hands on Silent Hunter V.

I bought a new card ATI HD5700 which had 1gb of ddr5 on it and its a DX11 card, what DX will SH5 run with ?

Other game I have is ArmAII which most fans of that game on the forum say is runs better with XP rather than Windows7.

I know I need to upgrade above XP to get DX10 and DX11 when they games come out, I take it SH5 being a later game it should run better on W7 ?

DX 9.0c, as mentioned in the requirements and in the recommended settings list here (http://silent-hunter.uk.ubi.com/silent-hunter-5/requirements.php)

If you can't add 384 megs shared video ram, then sorry - no gaming for you.

Today I paid a visit to my local geek shop and got a quote for slapping together a computer that meets recommended requirements for SH5.

Could anyone give me approximate price for such a machine in the U;S' and Europe?

If anyone is wondering what I'm doing. I want a capable machine. But will not buy SHV until the DRM infection is removed.

I will buy PT boats, though. Akella seems like the good guys. :DL:DL

Probably will run it but not well, for comparisson my specs are:
2Ghz core2duo (t5800)
3Gb ram +32Gb on sd card readyboost device.
250Gb hdd
intel integrated 4500mhd gfx card (128mb onboard/2048 shared)
vista

the game runs ok, 15-18fps in control room 24+ on bridge, only effect i turned off were the shadows, they drop the fps by 30%.
playing at 1024*768 with no AA.

Your spec is a little better so you should be ok, just dont expect 60fps+

I use , "Can you Run it?" (as a guide) Tells me I FAIL to meet the min specs :(

Need a GeForce 8800 GT, I have a GeForce 8600M GT

However..SH5 work well enough for me :yeah: on my XPS Dell M1530 lappy

How do you find the fps ;) (I'm not very tech minded) ;)

Cant believe it runs on an Intel 4500mhd, my HD4200 scores more than triple in 3dmark but can only manage 20-25 fps on deck!
