I got a new Dell 18.5" widescreen monitor yesterday. SH4 looks awesome in it! The native resolution is 1366x768. I was continuing my first patrol with TMO 1.9 and was taking shots of a Nippon Maru I had been chasing. I also sunk a tugboat that was sailing with the Maru. The Nippon was harder to sink because of its guns and my faulty torpedoes. :damn: Anyway, I wanted some shots to share with you guys, but they turned out funky. Here is a shot:

Does SH4 not support screenshots in 1366x768? I can run that resolution just fine when setting it up in the graphical options.
Edit:
I just tried taking a shot in Oblivion and got the same thing. Guess screenshots don't work too well with widescreen.

I think it's more a problem of the funky resolution than widescreen...in fact, I'm surprised that SH4 supports it at all. Was that shot taken using SH4's screenshot engine? Try using the computer's Print Screen function instead...hit Print Screen (ignore the screenshot that SH4 tries to take) and paste the screenshot into Paint and see if it looks right. You might also try to force the game to run at 1360x768 instead.

I know this will not resolve your issue, but it may will help you to eliminate possibilities, i have a 22'' wide flat and a 57'' wide that I have played, both I play at native resolutions higher than the one you posted, and I have taken screen shots on both using SH4's internal screen capture and have always had good pictures...curious...is the resolution you are using the native resolution for the monitor is it one you picked?

I haven't tried running the game in a different resolution yet. I might try that later.
I didn't even think to try using the Print Screen capture instead of the SH4 one. I'll try that, too.
1366x768 is the native resolution of my monitor (16:9 ratio). It is a weird one, but every game I have can run on it. Even the oldest one I have, Rome: Total War and its expansion, can run in that resolution. The only "issue" I had with the games was Red Alert 3. My resolution wasn't available in the drop down list. The closest I saw was 1280x720. I had to edit an ini file to get 1366x768.

That's still a funky ratio. A true 16:9 display about that size would have a resolution (by my math) of 1360x765. Is your display technically a computer monitor or is it an HDTV?
Regardless, if it works in games (outside of screenshots) I'd say keep it, naturally games will look better if they're rendered at the native resolution.

It is a flesh and blood computer monitor. :haha: Taped to the front of the monitor when I took it out of the box was a type of film with big numbers saying the native resolution was 1366x768. What I found funny was it had a warning type of message to see the included disc to see important instructions on setting the resolution. Out of curiosity I looked at the disc and the special message was just to do the normal routine of setting the resolution. It was so stupid. They could have put that on the film they taped to the front if they didn't have the message written in six different languages to see the CD on how to change the resolution! :88)
Anywho, sorry for the little rant. Here is a link to the monitor I have. I'm not too worried about the screenshot issue in any event. SH4 looks amazing on this monitor, though!

Thanks for the tip. Will editing that file allow me to take screenshots? The game is running fine at 1366x768.
Edit: I looked at the main.cfg file and the resolution is already 1366x768. Not sure what this is gonna do... :88)

So does the print screen one works? I also have the same problem...Running the same resolution but on a laptop instead...Screenshots turn out funky when I use Ctrl+F11 for SH4 screens.

I have a Dell monitor with the same native resolution and have had no problems at all with the game or taking screenshots....:)

I've been dealing with the exact same issue with my 25" widescreen for quite some time now, especially whenever I update my NVIDIA drivers. It seems that every time I update my graphics drivers, I have to go in and reset my screen resolutions for the PC and SHIV. My problem arises after I exit the game, right after resetting the game resolution. Once I restart the game, none of my SS even open up in any of my image viewers, MS Paint included. I have finagled with the settings for countless hours until I found a, sort of, makeshift but self perpetuating solution.
If I set my resolution to it's native 1920X1080, oddly enough, my taskbar and other items move outside the range of my viewing area. I had to go into my NVIDIA control panel and set it to accept resolutions that aren't supported by Windows. Then I have to use the "Resize Desktop" setting in my NVIDIA Control panel (which changes the resolution anyway), synchronize it with the standard PC Desktop resolution settings and then again with the SHIV graphics settings. Once I do that, these same resolutions would now be found in my SHIV, Graphics Setting, drop down menu. The odd part is that whenever I restart the game, after synchronizing my resolutions, if I go back into my game graphics setting, I get a message that the game resolution settings don't match my PC resolution settings. The problem occurs right here, if I reset them again to match my NVIDIA and PC resolution settings. If I do, I cannot open any screenshots. If I ignore the message and continue playing without re-synchronizing the resolutions, I can open any screenshots. I know it sounds confusing but I have tried countless hours searching for another solution. As it stands, I don't want to mess with any settings anymore because it's such a pain to figure it all out again if a different solution fails.:damn:
