I make this thread for people who wish to talk about sh-5 insted or DRM. I,m not happy with it but this is afterall the sh-5 forum and not the DRM or Negative wave forum. Lets talk sh-5 again here. Maybe this community could use some good long gameplay footage!!!! Yeah thats what we need.

I guess that this could be one of the most realistic U-boat sims - just imagine you are on the surface crusing at 12 knots lovely Summer day in 1942 and without warning a black screen - death.

Me too, but more realistically, I'm looking forward to working on the rink tonight with my neighbours and a few pints, while squinting thorugh the windows every now and then to catch up on the hockey game. I may also check out this Guild Wars game that seems all the rage around here.

Yes i am extremely suprised that there are zero gameplay clips. We have the engine footage and dynamic campaign footage. But i remember when sh-3 was almost out , we had a lot more gameplay and other footage to keep us busy . They even put up the tutorials that came with the game and this gave a lot of interesting footage as well.

As far as Ive seen there arent that many screenshots from the game on actual gameplay "stuff". Most if not all are showing some action with ships,uboats ...
I hope they release something more than "eyecandy" to the public seeing how some things work.The only relevant scrshot was IIRC of the med campaing.Though a screenshot is far far less informative and open to speculation than a simple video.

Actually i was wondering (apart from the eyecandy of the game) what good news we heard about sh5 ? They said something about wolfpacks but there wont be gathering or something like that. IIRC it will be like luftwaffe in sh3, you give reports and the more you stay with the convoy the bigger the chance someone will show up.

If only! Besides, it was good in games like GTA4, that had the archievements stuff stored in your online MS account (I can afford losing a bunch of SH saves anyways, I can always start over), and even if you were not connected, you could not save games, but still play through the story. I don't see that happening in SH5. That's what I hate the most. I don't mind connecting all the time whenever it's needed (I have a bunch of Steam games, no prob for me, it's even cool I can just full-speed download my games), it's the forceful limitation, the mandatory "connection or no game" clause that's being imposed on us (and that, for the moment, NO OTHER GAME has, not on me though) without even asking us if we'd like an "online services plataform" or if we don't really need it, so that tells us how much useful it is, if we weren't asked. Polls can be useful. And my paycheck too! :rotfl2:

Sorry guys, but its hard to think of many positives apart from the fact its a game based on submarine warfare. I wont call it a sub sim, as i fear it may now be more of an arcade game to appeal more to the casual gamer [ which i have no proplem with if its an option ]. The graphics dont mean much to me as my rig is getting old and may not run the game on high settings, even less likely now that i will constantly have to have my anti-virus and firewall running in the background. The main reason i find it hard to be positive is the lack of information regarding the game, if the release date is correct then we only have five weeks to wait, but there is nothing on the official website, which is now becoming a big worry to me, i would have thought that with the release date so near then ubi would be trying to sell the game to us by now. I have always been told that "no news is good news" so i will have to wait an see. I really am trying to stay positive, but its very hard.

The funny thing to me is, I had no idea there was even going to be a Silent Hunter 5 until I bought SH3 and ended up here. At that time I was waiting on a new computer to arrive. After finding out about V and looking at the expected specs, I wasn't sure even the new rig would run it all out - BUT I probably would've bought it anyway, just because some of the features being talked about looked so cool and exciting. And then if I couldn't run it at a level that I was happy with, I would've just waited until I was ready to upgrade some hardware and been perfectly content to play SH3/GWX3 until then.

Now with the DRM thing? Nope. I'd rather wait and see what happens with that down the line, and hope that 1) it either turns out not to be the disaster it very well may be, or 2) the "constant connection" requirement is dropped by the time I actually do some upgrades to my system.

So basically I was someone who would've bought this game right off and paid more for it, even knowing I might not do much with it for a couple of years. Instead I've become someone who *might* buy the game somewhere down the road and Ubisoft will probably get far less $$ for it if and when that happens.
