Shouldn't he be the one mandating the DRM? And then refusing to see what a REALLY BAD idea it was?
Then you can have Churchill proclaiming that we shall fight it on the beaches, on the landing grounds, in the streets, etc., and we shall nevah surrendah.

Amusing. You could have bomber command going after the Berlin ISP as that would shut down the entire submarine war in the Atlantic. :D
As for the 'justification' from Ubi...
Any time you hear ANYONE use the word 'committed', assume they are lying. What they are doing is trying to sound like they're promising something, thus inducing you to act in some way beneficial to them based on the perceived 'promise', when they are promising nothing.
You'll hear politicians do it all the time. They're the most committed people on earth. Try to get one to tell you precisely how that commitment will be evidenced in terms of discrete, empirical terms (i.e. like most of us who work in business have to) and watch them run, however....
Amazes me people fall for it, but they do.

Or something to that effect. Effing brilliant.
Of course NOW when I watch Das Boot, which I've finally gotten to the point of doing without the subtitles - every time I see that scene, in my head I will hear der Alte say "Thanks dude" and crack up laughing.

You went a bit further than just posting your opinion. You talked down to pretty much anyone who disagreed with you and told them their opinions weren't worth hearing, they were products of the past, and they should just grin and bear a reaming by the people who supposedely create game for them with a smile and a "Thank you so much, sir! May I have another?"
One of the hallmarks of intelligence is the ability to laugh at oneself. The altered dialogue was pretty funny, even if you can't see it.
And yes, if such dialogue were aimed at me I would still laugh, if it was that funny.

in a way you have been made famous, your name was immortalised in a funny video that will be seen by many and unless they are aware of some back and forth in a few threads at this site they dont see it as a slight towards you but rather remember your name in a video they liked.
your strong opinion caused some to feel you were being pushy with your views instead of stating your opinion and letting others have theirs.
nobody minds you stating your opinions and defending DRM if that is your position but at some point you must see that other opinions are not wrong just because you dont agree with them.
i happen to think DRM can be a very good thing to have, IF it is made "optional" and not manditory. i think many here are very willing to give it a chance if its an option that can be turned off if you dont want it or cant use it.

Sorry you feel that way.
I, for one, replied to one of your posts agreeing with the fact that some aspects of DRM can be beneficial but that I disagreed strongly about being required to be connected the whole time during play.
Don't recall posting anything other than an acknowledgement of your views, agreement with some of it, and disagreement with some other bits.
No flaming. Nothing personal. A blanket 'differing opinions are not welcome here' is simply not supported by the majority of evidence I've seen in almost 9 years as a member. Yes, some people might go a bit off at times, but this community has some pretty wise moderators and tends to be reasonably self-correcting, especially in light of many other forums/game communities.
Sorry you feel put upon. I don't like that happening to anyone, but it seems a few people feel you weren't tolerant of other views (I'm not expressing a view on that).
Cheers

SARCASM ON--
Don't cry about it, and accept it. It's part of the progress of internet. Now everyone gets a video these days being laughed at (me first, though in a different field of activity), it's a social hit, person to person jokes aren't in the loop anymore. If you don't like it, don't watch it and don't read it.

You know, for someone who's been running around willy nilly verbally dumping on people and being really really insulting, you're awfully sensitive. If you can't stand the pressure at 200m, don't pick a fight with a destroyer.
(edit: following up on Neal's quite reasonable comment below... I just disagree with your take on DRM and the candor with which you've targetted people who don't/won't/can't get constant internet access...ultimately it's water under the bridge... I bear you no animus and won't follow you around harassing you, trenken, FWIW)

Look, like we talked earlier, your opinion is welcome here. Some people will react badly against an opinion that is not like their own, and you experienced some of that. The only suggestion I make is not to try and answer each and every critic, and don't expect to change minds. ;)
Trenken, the video was pretty light hearted, compared to some of your posts and many in response to yours it was really cute even. But point taken, I won't mention your username in future vids.
Yes, I agree, the video was pretty kind to you, it's not an unflattering protrayal. :yep:

"Make a save-game before it's too late!!!"
:haha::haha::haha:
Why? When you reload, you'll more than likely be on the surface like in other games. Then you'll die for sure, so if you expeience any problems at all while playing, your screwed.
Not like we've never had problems playing before though...ehh !

noobs, all of you!
do You not see that ubisoft is trying to be as historically accurate as possible?
U-boat crews suffered 75% losses during WWII (30,000 sailors dead out of 40,000) - and according to the vid description on youtube, 300 out of 400 subsim fans cancelled their pre-order. That's 75% losses. This game will be historically accurate, i tell you!
And after the campaign, the DRM will make you scuttle your PC.
but seriously - i preordered SHV today, just so i could cancel the preorder. I can abide MMOs like World of Warcraft - games that can only be played online, but offline games requiring an internet connection to start is some kind of bad joke.
Not that i don't have my internet connection up 24/7 - i do most of the time, but the principle is different. If i get a power outage, i can still play SH1 under dosbox with no problems, and 4-5 hours of battery left, even though my internet is down below hull crush depth.

My boss is a big war nutt too. I told him my copy of Das Boot shown up early and that I was going to watch it non stop on my days off.
I watched it twice.
Went back to work unshaven, wearing a wool flannel shirt, oilslick pants, suspenders and was very jittery everytime the phone rang.
He just grinned and asked if I enjoyed it.:yeah:
"Jawohl" is all I had to say !!

Really, really splendid work.
The highlights for me were the save game problems, cutting back to Ubi, (didn't save the game in time) and of course, that superb lag sequence on the periscope.
I don't know if I'll be able to watch Das Boot anymore without laughing. :arrgh!:
Edit Oh, and how could I forget, at the start when the chap in the car races over and shouts to them about sending back their save games. That was inspired.
