i read that some minutes ago on the german ubi forum. Good Question, good answer!

yes, also the note about "better modablity" was nice to read. BUT...as we all know...this must not be true.

modded in, yes. but in stock, the destroyers had night vision. no realistic 600 meter pass throughs... remember: the surface attack was the main tactic in the early war, this must be well balanced, i think.

Now those are quality questions to answer! Good job!

That is great news:

Does SH-V allow for nightly surface attacks? Can you surface within a convoy at night like Kretschmer did without a big chance to discover?

Yes, we have adjusted the ships spacing to be historically accurate and also the enemy sensors to allow the player to recreate those surface attacks.

I did complain (was concerned) about that some time ago:

Did they check this forum? I Do not dare to think so. Well, I think others did complain as well.

In SH-III a nightly attack is possible but after the torpedoes hit al searchlights switched on. I do not hope - and expect not - to see that again in SH-V.

Will we be able to see people working on ships? In SH3 ships always seemed like ghostships. That's why I like to see some crew or outlooks working on deck (on neutral and enemy ships).

Yes, all ships, be it enemy or friendly, will have crew walking about the decks, manning the guns etc.

Will there be an option in multiplayer to take command of a Battleship, Destroyer, frigate etc... and fight against other players commanding the submarines and eventually some other KM ships supported by Submarines?

No, you won’t be able to take control of a surface ship in multiplayer but the new interface (TAI) can be used to achieve better synchronization between players in 3D, making online coop much more interesting.

Great news. That was one of my biggest gripes about SH3. Even in GWX, there's no way you could surface in the middle of a convoy undetected.

Is that from the SH4 Q&A? :woot:

Does this mean we will also have our own crew on the deck when we enter and leave port? I mean why would every single ship have crew top-side and not have the ability to have your own crew on deck to increase immersion. But i think we wont see this .

Hmm.. In GWX on a dark night, you can sail head on to a ship and it will not detect you at ALL. I've passed 100m away from some ships but I was out of torpedoes and the weather was rough so I just wanted to scare them :haha:

In OM+OMEGU you can approach a convoy at 2000m or even less on the surface. The weather has a huge impact on sensors and once I managed to sail into a slow convoy I remained there until I ran out of torpedoes. I even surfaced twice to refresh the air just a few hundred meters away from the targets. If the sensors in SH5 mimic the ones in OM it's all good :woot:
