How could they? I mean i,m all for sh-5 but i know some people are have there questions about sh-5. I,m shocked that i,m seeing people on the forum here not buying the game because of drm and i cannot blame them.
The whole viic and 1943 only campaign is something that can be fixed with payed addons. But if Ubi goes for this whole drm thing i can ashure them that it is dramaticly going to effect there sales not only for sh-5 but also for other products if they choose to have drm with them as well. Sometimes i wonder who on earth is making these desissions!! I for one would be willing to give it a go with drm. But that doesnt mean i welcome the whole idea. I mean if sh-5 had a seriously good on-line feature i could understand. But off-line play while having to remaind online 100%?? What planet are they from? I mean comeon starforce allmost broke sh-3 ! and now they are making a same sort of mistake. These disission makers behing the desk never think out of the box to they? I,m sure the dev,s have nothing to do with this. But Ubi you are biting yourself in the ass over and over again.

While I an now not buying SH5 due to the DRM included. There is a specific difference between Starforce and this Net DRM.

Starfarce was an intrusive resident program that was installed to your system without authorisation and resulted in failure of some optical drives.

This Net DRM is passive in that sense but is still too draconian for the purposes of Offline play.

Yes they are different . But they both force the client in doing something that they dont want. Its feel like i,m in close observation via the internet with drm to make sure i,m not the criminal or i,m inocent 24/7

We will never be proven innocent if you have to be online 100% to play the game.

Please read about what DRM actually is, or try playing a game that uses it, before you go comparing it to something like starforce.

Starforce was a licensing protection system, thats not what DRM is at all.

You're comparing 2 entirely different things here. There is no licensing with SH5. You buy the game, install it on your machine, create an ubi account, log in to the SH5 servers, start playing.

Its very simple and has many advantages such as streaming updates, game saves protected from your machine possibly failing, Ubi being able to seemlessly implement new modes without having to release expansions. It's very cool, most PC devs use it now so get used to it. A couple guys on a sub sim forum are going to change the way the industry is heading, sorry.
