Installation troubles, please help.

Hey Y'all.
I got a wierd installation problem.
I first installed the game and played it for a bit, and then I went to install patch 1.4. during the install it said one of those "warning, this file does not match the .CAB file in the install. might be damaged / contact supplier" thing. I let the install finish instead of closing it out. So i uninstall the game, and when i re-install the game, the same error messages keep on going on throughout the whole install, and when it finished, i tried to play the game. The loading did fine, but when i tried to load a game, either at the very end of the load or right when you enter the sub, the game froze up and one of those "SH-4 stopped working" messages. please help, as i have no idea what i did wrong. I am running windows 7 ultimate

I don't have Windows 7 so I can't help.

I don't think it was a compatability issue, just something wrong with patch 1.4..
the game was working with windows 7 with patch 1.2, but then the problems started in the patch 1.4 install. then the game wouldn't run so i uninstalled SH 4 in its entirety, and the re-installation wouldn't work, as it came up with the same error messages. It was on patch 1.2. Its definetly not the systems fault, as it worked before.

thanks tweety, i think thats what the issue is. So this install will probably override anything left from the other install. And I kinda went to a "unknown" website to download it. Bad idea ha.

The errors are still happening, but this is message showing up repeatedly with different files, to the dot:
CRC error: The file C:/Program Files/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific/Data/Movies/BackGrnd/Back1.bik. doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted; contact your software vendor.

I even cleaned the disk with my disk cleaner, and it still is not working. I even did a full uninstall and the reinstall would keep on having messages like this show up during it. Someone must have a similar issue.
