UPDATE 27/3/2010
Here we go again! 50K watch, we are now at Captains: 46,613 :shucks:

I won't be bumping this thread as frequently as before, but the prize will be a copy of Silent Hunter 5 (unless you already have it and prefer a Subsim Mug and Clock, your choice).

Same rules as before (see below), need a screen of the 50,000 new member. If you miss it, 50,001 does not count. ;)

Closing in on 40,000 signups in this forum :woot:

Subsim Battle Mug to the first guy to post a screen of 40,000 and the newest member, as it happens. No cheating, no registering a fake account, I can tell :)

Where can I tell how many people we have and who the 40k person is???

I seriously want me a battle mug!

Edit - nevermind - I found it!

Thanks, FW :)

Yeah, keep an eye on that line, once it closes in on 39,991....39,992...then 39,999...someone will register as 40,000. If you capture that screen and the registered member proves to be legit--bingo! You win. Just post the screen capture here.:salute:

40K is the number of all signups ever. But how many people are currently still active in any of the forums? Just curious. I guess the number of actually active members is 20-30% less.

Onkel Neal
01-22-10, 10:03 AM
No, more like 60% less. Logs show about 40% of all members signed in some time in 2009. And on a weekly basis, about 7200~8000 sign in at least once. Still, not too shabby, I imagine it's normal for all forums.

Skybird
01-22-10, 10:16 AM
Probably. I just would not have guessed the loss-number being greater than 50%.

Onkel Neal
01-22-10, 11:00 AM
Oh sure. Just think how many forums you have registered on, made a post or two, and moved on to other things :03: I bet I have my name on 200 forums over the years.

I just happened to notice the member count last night and thought of this immediately. I searched through a years worth of threads in GT and didn't find it. I even used the search function to search for "50k watch" and nothing came up. Well, since there are 2048 people looking at it right now, 1616 of them being 'stowaways', I'm not surprised that that many would visit in a day. Of course some of us log on more than one time each day, so that probably helps.
