geez thats terrible, if you dont want the swastika symbol then fine i can see that, many still find it very offensive and a symbol of racism but what they have on the decking looks more like a red cross banner then a kriegsmarine flag or southern cross or whatever they were trying for.

it would be better to leave the flag paint off the decking all together and it would look so much better

I wonder if the ships will have different camos. For example the stripes on the Bismarck were overpainted to grey when entering the atlantic on her first (and last) operation.
And will the size of the flag be reduced, as it looks much too large?

Ironically, the symbol replacing the swastika in the screenshots is the balkenkreuz. The symbol that replaced the traditional "iron-cross" for the luftwaffe and the wehrmacht from 1939 to 1945.
In such it is as much a symbol of the Nazi-regime as the swastika.

How you going to be able to see it?... the periscope doesn't go up that high :O:

I'm sure this will be quickly fixed in a mod for those who want it.
I personally think it's silly to be offended by a symbol, but then again, I was never oppressed by someone wearing that symbol.

i use trained seagulls to take airial recon photos and they reported it :D

Yes on both counts. But then again SH4 did the same thing. The flags were, in some cases, half the length of the ship. I guess they did it to make it easier to identify ship nationalities. I always thought it looked silly though.

But there really isn't an excuse for having the flag flying from the wrong part of the mast.

I think its just brilliant. Why should we use exact models of WWII ships like the Bismark ? Its a game isn't it ? Why not include a couple of the nuclear aircraft carriers we have today, and some nuclear subs. All this talk of reality and accuracy.....piffle.....and whilst we're at it, why can't we have a pink sea for a change. C'mon UBI, give us some options at least!:salute:

I kind of like the sea in the videos, it's not the most "realistic" but it has a nice look to it, in a SH3 way. SH4 water was ugly IMO, it looks good only on screenshots but once you see it moving, yuk.

Oh yeah and the Bismarck is old news, show us some merchants :)

i agree and understand them not putting the swastika there but i just would rather see the correct flag or no flag but to intentionally put the wrong flag defeats the whole purpose of having the flag painted there for the sake of realism to begin with.

but warships are "sexy" and they sell games, after all most people will pick up a game with images of a task force on the cover before the one with a rusty old merchant ship

Really didn't like the look of it in SH3 :stare: it was a pretty half-baked model, IMO. :-?

As for merchants : some C2 cargo will fit. :)
To have a fair idea of the quality of the game, simply get right to the point : ask for pics of the worst looking SH3 models. :O:

There is no flag on mast.
