Do we have to settle for an u boat sim that isn't complete? I love the type II in sh3 and of course the type IX IS A MUST!!
I thought drumbeat was a part of sh5? without a type IX???? :88) I demand a delay on release till some of these important things are addressed like ...........1944/45 :o
heck I'd rather wait and get a great sim not another sh4 ((which i did not purchase ))) new release date 12/12/10 ALL IN FAVOR SAY----------------------aye

I wasn't here to see it but I heard that Subsim community threw such a fit over SH3's lack of a dynamic campaign that the game was delayed until it could be implemented.
Sadly I think such days are in the past now. The gaming industry is too big and money-oriented to be held up by a minority of dissatisfied consumers.

I am in mourning about Sh5. Not buying it would harm the simulation genre but it would also show UBI that we are not satisfied with half baked games that lack of important parts and features just because the game has to be released at a certain date. I wish UBI would delay the game to prevent a disaster, but some bosses might know better.
I will go to bed now and think about buying some other new game for the computer I recently bought. :nope:
cheers
Marc
With the release already scheduled for early March there's absolutely ZERO chance for any delay.
And honestly, I don't think the devs/UBI "forgot" about the other boats or the time from 43-45. DLC anyone?

Least we can hope for are DLCs and Add-Ons.

I had been positive up untill now, but this has really p1ssed me off...
Yeah, it should be delayed, but I fear they won't do it like they did with SH3 for the sake of dynamic campaign, because this time round half of the comments from members here say they're satisfied with one perfect type VII (and I doubt it will be perfect anyway) rather than 4 unfinished uboats of both II, VII, IX and XXI.
But if only all those of us who are not satisfied with this decision wait to buy it till it's offered at reduced prices, then it would definitely send Ubi a message. Maybe they have a plan to make an add on later with the missing types and missing 2 years of campaign and technology, but I would much rather wait 6 months more and pay more for the game, if it was COMPLETE with all types and the entire war, and not this half finished product.

But what in the world do you think the odds are that it'll be perfect? People have already spotted little things such as the screws turning the wrong way, and that is just a symbol for all the normal things that could be wrong with the sub.

If DLC means getting the Type II and IX at some future date, and possible expansion to a new Pacific campaign and maybe British subs and more, I'll pay for it.:sunny:

If you read what I wrote inside the paragraph, the odds of a perfect model of the VII is rather low. That's why I defy the reasoning behind settling for a "perfect type VII" instead of functioning types II, VII, IX and XXI.
I can live with some minor graphic glitches on the models, if they all are represented.

I now want a delay, this doesn't even look like a simulation anymore... except for the awesome completely modeled interior.

You're right.
It looks more like an abortion.

I too have lost my excitement. VII only? Dynamic campaign? Like I care for that. I have SH4 but I am still playing 3 with grey wolf. I was hoping SH5 would take a look at the community and the existing mods for SH3, and start from there. How naive of me. The FPS and more RPGish stuff is good but not at this cost.
Bottom line is. If you want the best sim, you play SH3 with GWX. SH5 will not change this. So why buy it?

I'd rather not wait. I'd rather play from march with my preciuouss VII and pay for a DLC, than to wait until December.

Sorry. I don't pay for DLC.
They can put it on the DISK, or keep it.
My money and I can wait.

I find this thread amusing with demands to UBI and such nonsense, and from all the other thread rants, it's clear UBI should devote all of their resources to satisfying everyone's vision of what a great subsim would be. Clearly, nothing short of a time machine to transport one into the actual war will suffice, and even that would come up short. :haha:
I've bought it, and will just have to live with the aftermath, or perhaps afterbirth.

No more. I've had my rant. And then some perhaps.
@Snestorm
No offence here.. but I must say that I agree with Neal.
You're free to think whatever you want and you can express it, but this is somewhat repetitive & annoying.
Let's hope that reviews are gonna make you change your mind. ;)

You are correct. I appologize.
Had to go back to GT to clear my head.
No more ranting. Promise.

Don't get me wrong, I understand if you are not happy with the SH5 theme, it's ok to express displeasure. We just don't want the forums to become overrun with negativity. :salute:

Straight out of the just published interview right here on SubSim.
Subsim: If Silent Hunter 5 is a commercial success, and let's say that it sold well, and the corporate office is happy, what is the next step? Another add-on, with additional U-boats, campaigns, maybe as DLC, downloadable content?
Alex: Well, we are thinking about that but it's much too early to say, we have to first of all see how the game performs. We'd need also to gather some feedback once the game is out, to see what the community says, so we can focus our attention on this also.
