As someone said...it´s intended to be interesting for the target consumer of the games, blow up everything in pieces as fast as possible, jumping around and carrying a ton of weapons and explosives, like in arcade games.

Ahem, at least the font is ok in my book. This "Gothic" or "Frakturschrift" that emerges again and again in WW2 titles is wrong, because it was forbidden under the Nazis, maybe you should read some books about this yourself :03:

And to show everything that the boats had to face (minus mines, ok) is at least a clear description of what awaits the player. The face of the Kaleu says it all .. :yep:

Yep, it does look quite similar to SHIV's, but I still like it. I must say that portraying a realistic situation shoudn't be and isn't the main concern on SHV's cover: were talking about an artistic view of the game's theme. It is supposed to draw your attention to itself when placed on a shelf, after all.

Yes, Silent Hunter III's cover is quite good as well, IMHO. It happens that most of the games released in the last 3 years seem to follow the "sexy-nuclear apocalypse-zombie-pattern", even though it doesn't quite fit the simulation genre: in the end, it's still about selling an attractive image. I believe that the path that appears to have been chosen by UBI is the correct one sale-wise, if not the most appealing to the hardcore fan-base, which I proudly include myself in.

And I kinda agree, the last SH4 game and now SH5 have really overblown war scenes, to the point of being silly. And like so many other images that people have posted, like the short crew/high conning tower arguement, I said you need to have arrows and captions on the image of the SH5 box pointing out the flaws.

How could you miss that? :O: Oh, I can see how! :o

Now just to give the opinion from someone who works with photoshop sometimes for a living (restaurant menus, website design etc.), this cover design (white plain letters surrounded by black topped with 5 using worn out reddish tone, the background for DVD-rom logo and its worn out white-reddish "PC DVD ONLINE" logo that looks like an old fridge or appliances logo way back in the 80's, choices of colours combinations/contrast of the two pictures and a bunch of other things) makes it looking totally out dated IMHO. Sort of like it was a cover for a game released 10 to 15 years ago...!!! Am I the only one that has this feeling?

Clearly, it shows once again UBI's marketing department in charge of SH5 is still missing the point... This cover is pretty sure not to attract attentions... wait till it's "lost" among many others! Imagine the scene and you'll be pretty sure that someone who is not searching for SH5 in the first place gonna miss it! Nothings, colours don't stand out in the crowd, from afar it's just overladen, saturated with tiny details that colours do not make contrasting with each others. It's just a blurry mess of tightly scattered thingies of an overall whitish-reddish-blackish wornout tone...

While the cover is not going to influence wether i'll buy or not SH5 a single a bit. I DO care for the cover to some extent after all:
Because the more it will atracts people that were not going in to buy it in the first place, the more copies UBI will sell.
The more copies they will sell, the more likely we have some SH6 somedays
The more they surpasses SH3 number of copies sold, the more likely the devs will have better funding, thus the more likely SH will improve over next time...
And the cover has some parts to do with it, to a certain extent. It is called marketing, and i'm not sure this cover project is a living example that will stand out in the marketing crowd, thus not helping SH5 which has been already plagged with an incongruous and dubious marketing plan if not "silently running", to say the least...

Silence is a valid and could be a very effective marketing strategy IF there's high expaction among a big amount of people. Apple knows it very well for example! SH5 is no Apple...
