View Full Version : Is a program of this nature available?
I'm working with a couple of friends on a small project and we were wondering if a program is available where we each have access to a stored "hard-drive" located on the web, kind of like a network drive accessible from each of our computers. We have an FTP but not all members can access it at the same time.
In our project we will be uploading files to our folders every Sunday evening, and this will be a good way to keep track of everyone's work and making sure they're getting things done on time.
Does anyone know of anything like what we need :06:

Yes. There are websites that do that. You just have to pay for the storage space.
But if I prefer not to pay :O:
And what is this considered? I don't know the technical term for it otherwise I would have Google'd a long time ago :know:
VPN might be what you are looking for.

We use Microsoft Sharepoint at work. Doesn't fit your criteria of "free" but it does what you're wanting to do.

There is a program called dropbox. You might want to check that.

I have heard Google has something like that, free, you only need a GMail account.
I don't use it, or GMail for that matter, so I can't exactly tell what you can and cannot do with it but since it is free it might be well worth to investigate it a little further:)
Thanks for all the replies.
I think DropBox is the way to go without spending any money, albeit a 2gb storage unit. But for the time being, it is more than enough :ping:
