WW2 German Seahund

would like to see this boat in sh5

German Seahund
(Means=SEAL (sea-dog)
WWII German 2 man coastal defense submarine
Dimensions: 39 feet long 5 feet 6 inches wide
The Seehund was used for shallow water and coastal defense at the end of WWII. Two torpedoes could be launched from external rails on each side of the boat.

At this point, and if the speculation is true, I think we'd be happy just to have Type II's and IX's in the game rather than some of the more exotic types of subs.

Yeah, besides those things would play totally differently, more suited to a "Battlestations : Europe" type of game.

I was under the impression that it had already been established that SH5 would only have the type 7 sub?

In that case I coubt we will see this sub.

HundertzehnGustav
01-17-10, 06:44 PM
i hope we never get to see it.

imagine coming across two Fletscher or Tribal DDs womewhere in the Deutsche Bucht.

Heh!

I might be a Kaleun, but that does not mean i am a fan of Harakiri or some sort of Suicide technique

That would be simple.

1. Fire both torpedoes from very shallow water.

2. Beach the thing.

3. Abandon ship and run for your life.

Short career, but isn't that what the single missions are for?

:har::har:

Lure them ito a minefield... they are bigger than you, and thus have a bigger chance to strike a mine! Plus you have this wonderful plexiglass coupola, so you can see DCs falling on your head, and have a spectacular view of Death approaching you...

well the two torps would be useful if they were of the guided kind, you know?
otherwise... *shakes head*:nope:

There are serious rumors that is an VII simulator and perhaps more subs can be added with DLC packs .

it never stops to amaze me how some people comes with the least relevant requests for a game such as SH5...
No wonder UBI can finds lots of mundane questions to ask at their forum... :O:

Ok with me if the crew is dressed in polka dot bikinis :har::har::har::har:

Or if it comes with a handy set of tincan opener so you can sort of "jettison" out of the boat should you endure too much damages! SH3 style!: "e-machinen broken, JAWHOL HER KALEUN!","all stop, JAWHOL HER KALEUN!","abandon the tincan,JAWHOL HER KALEUN!"

This of course, with a crew dressed with their parading for grand days uniforms, just like in SH3 ^^

what makes it least relevant?

was a active german boat towards the end of ww2.

HundertzehnGustav

oh come ON now.

it is less relevant.
It is as Important to WWII as the ME-262 with the 50mm cannon in the nose.

Be realistic.

The Seehund (German: "seal"), also known as Type XXVII, was a successful series of German (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Nazi_Germany) midget submarines (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Midget_submarine) created during World War II (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/World_War_II). Designed in 1944, and operated by two man crews, the submarines were used by the Kriegsmarine (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Kriegsmarine) during the closing months of the war, sinking 9 merchant vessels and damaging an additional 3, with 35 losses mostly attributed to bad weather.

At least it would be interesting to launch a Biber in german early special ops.

It had a 3+ to 1 death ratio.

Your wanting HISTORICAL DETAIL and ACCURACY right?

Ok - but that means 3 out of every 4 times you take the bugger out in game - it just out and out sinks you before you get to do anything useful with it. After all - you want HISTORICAL DETAIL and ACCURACY!

Can you not see why modeling something that had so little overall impact in the war is a very questionable use of valuable resources? Your talking about man hours that must be paid to artists and programmers just so this little side note in history gets included.

How many players are going to request such a boat knowing its going to sink 3 out of 4 times? How many of the players really are concerned with such a minor role player?

If anything, instead of asking the dev's to spend time on this - ask them to make sure the modders have the ability to add the bugger on their own.

The Type XXIII would be much more relevant and worthy of adding to the game.
