Encountered a task force last night - Grid AM32 north of Loch Ewe; a mixed bag destroyer screen and two mighty Nelsons (first time I have ever seen a battleship).

Having sent one of them down for her empire and escaped, my machine promtly CTD!

I'm in vanilla and the date is 30th-31st December 1940 and 1st of Jan 1941. I have a save but I'm a ways off from where I contacted the offending battlegroup - a couple of reloads have left me unable to find them again.

Can anyone help me trace this elusive task force so I can have another go?

Ta,

Go into the mission editor in your game programme folder and open up the Campaign_SCR, top right of the screen there is a 'play' key, advance using the TC to near your date of expectancy as well as the general area and you should see what your looking for.

I had a look but there's nothing in the campaign file about a task group being there at that time - am I doing something wrong?

If there were two Nelson class then it might be a random convoy. Check the _RND file.

OK, there are a couple of possibilities in there - but there's no way of knowing the composition of the random convoys until they start appearing is there? (not that I understand how the scenario calculates the random convoys - the editor looks complicated to me!) I may be doomed to sail for many more months without seeing another enemy capital ship.

Never mind - I'll give some more suspicions a try and see where we go from there. Thanks for the help both.

What I really miss is the save/restore feature.
