How do I add a Quote to a reply?

I am missing something here that is obviously simple. I blame it on my age or my ongoing chemotherapy. Everybody attaches cute rectangle boxes that say quote to help clarify things. I just copy and paste text and that is not as good. Is someone willing to show me just how easy this is to do............ShipsRus

As kiwi said, there's the way of clicking that button.

However, if you want to quote only a part of a post, you can just manually type (without *), then copy-paste the text of the post you want to quote, then add [/quote*] (again without the *) at the end. It will look like any regular quote.

If you want to do a couple of partial quotes in one post, you can do it just the same as stated above, but to let others know whom you quoted each time, you can use [quote=username*]text to quote[/quote*] (again without the *). If you do it this way, the quote will show the username at the top of the quote box, like this:

One last thing (I hope). If you have already used the quote button to quote a specific post, you can use Asakura's advice to add an extra quote from that person.

If you want to add a quote from a second person, simply follow the formula The only thing we have to fear is fear itself[/quote*] (that's a great idea, Asakura, using the asterisks to block the function), it will look like this:

Heh thanks. I'm on forums for years and have learned how to use and explain codes to other users. And usually I enter different codes like [img*][/img*] by hand, because by now I'm faster that way than grabbing my mouse and clicking the button for the code. :D

Want additional advice/shortcuts? :know:

Press CTRL + B to instantly add the bold style to where your cursor is.
Press CTRL + I to instantly add the italic style to where your cursor is.
Press CTRL + U to instantly add the underline style to where your cursor is.
If you want to use a text color that's not chooseable from the default list you may enter Test[/color*] (without the *) with x being the hex code for the color you want.
As a funny hint, you can use the code 2A2A2A to color the text the same as the forum background, making it invisible without marking it or quoting it -> [color=#2A2A2A]see what I mean? <- :D
