View Full Version : Medals on crew not showing up

When I first installed SH3 and GWX I disabled the medals on crew, but before a recent patrol I was curious since I'd never actually seen the medals in a 3D environment. So I rolled back SH3 Commander, then launched JSGME and removed the mod which disables medals on crew.
However I still don't see the Iron Cross I awarded to a couple of crewmen. I looked in all the likely places on their uniforms but only see the standard rank and such.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

You stated you 'removed' the mod....did you mean disable.
You must be in port before activating the mod.

Yes, disabled (moved from right pane to left pane is JSGME). Enabling was done on install, disabling was done in port before my current patrol. I loaded SH3 Commander, rolled it back. Then opened JSGME and disabled the mod.
I assume I would see an iron cross pinned to a chest or something, right?

It looks from what you've typed that you disabled the mod twice.
This could be a typo though.
Ensure mod is disabled (in left panel) rollback commander and commence a new career.
It sounds like you've corrupted a file to me.

From the SH3 Commander Manual
In order to avoid any potential file integrity problems, it is imperative that you
ALWAYS perform a rollback BEFORE:
· enabling or disabling any mods, either via JSGME or manually;
· uninstalling or reinstalling Silent Hunter III;
· uninstalling SH3 Commander. The above is from the SH3 Commander manual, and is the reason I rolled back *before* disabling the mod in JSGME.
I hope I haven't corrupted anything. Here was my procedure:
1. Install SH3/GWX
2. Enable the mods in JSGME including 'no medals on crew'
3. Install SH3 Commander (keeping SH3 Commander out of the picture until the last stage)
4. Play with 'no medals on crew' enabled
5. (in port before patrol) Rollback SH3 Commander
6. Disable 'no medals on crew'
7. Launch SH3 Commander (and hence SH3 from there, go on patrol)
Sound right?

It's definitely disabled just once - in the left pane called "available mods".
By "commence a new career" do you just mean to test it? Or will it not take effect except on a new career? Because that could explain it.
Are you by any chance using OLC Gold MkIIc? This mod removes the medals from crews' uniforms too.

Hm, nope. I intend to try that mod soon, but haven't yet.
Thanks for the help guys. I wonder what's going on. I will try starting a new career when I get a chance later.

If starting a career doesn't rectify the problem you may need to consider a fresh installation.
PITA I know, but your alternatives are extremely limited.

Iron Cross 2nd Class will show up as a ribbon in the jacket's button hole.
Iron Cross 1st Class will show up as a metal on the jacket's left top pocket (incorrectly placed in the game - it should be centered on the non-flap portion of the pocket - for uniforms without pockets it was placed as if there was a pocket).

^What he said^
If you awarded the IC 2nd Class it will show up as a small ribbon about halfway between the chest and the waist. The actual medals were only worn on dress uniforms, in port.

Ah, yep it's there. Sorry for the wild goose chase.
I was looking for, you know, a cross. Or some kind of actual medal. The ribbon is there. Thanks for the help guys.
Very very sorry for wasting your time! I'll be in the corner. :88)

Not at all. Helping people, pointing out their mistakes and feeling smug and superior is never a waste of time.
