I know several of his writings and quite respect his thinking and argument. I just read a (good) review of his latest book which now is also available in German, "The Changing Face of War. Lessons of Combat, from the Marne to Iraq."
Do you know this book? I would especially like to know to what degree it is new compared to his earlier books "Fighting Power. German and US Army Performance, 1939-1945", "Command in War", and "The Rise and Decline of the State". i do not want to read a fourth book and then find out it is just another walk-through of stuff presented in these three books that I already know.
Since years I also fight with myself to invest into another English book by him (only some of his books are avaialble in german), "Supplying War: Logistics from Wallenstein to Patton", but I am not certain whether or not it maybe is a bit too specialsied in interest only? I want a general historical analysis of the importance of logistics, but nothing so specific that maybe it is only active army insiders taking interest in it. If you know it, what's your opinion on it, and it's focus?
