Shooting sound while under water

Dis this happens you too? I'm 20+ meters deep under water, periscope down and i get discovered, probably by noise i make and i hear dd shooting me! I hear shell going past of me while i'm in deep darkness!

Some times I hear what sounds like shooting while I am under and being attacked by DDs. Just the other day I hapend to be watching them attack me with the external cameria and discoverd what I thought was some very strange employment of the deck guns was actualy the DDs shooting depth charges out of some kind of launcher rather than rolling them off the back of the ship.

Could this be what you are hearing?

This is exactly same sound you get when shell passes sub while on surface. Ahhh, i cant check what happens cause i usually play with 100% realism and i don't have outside view.

Maybe hedgehogs? But it is year 1939 and against british...can't be.

I think it's more likely a 'carryover' sound, just like hearing the wind blowing sometimes when you're 50 meters underneath a storm.

In the academy convoy attack training mission I (definately) had the two escorts duke it out with eachother. One of them was firing at the other. Must be a bug. But I've never noticed this in the campaign. Could this be your situation aswel, or did you do a campaign situation?

I thought I had been hearing hedgehogs in the convoy training mission, but I guess that probably wasn't possible. It sounded like several objects hitting the water in rapid succession (like the 2 dozen from a hedgehog). But maybe that wasn't possible given the timeframe.

Is that what I heard or something else?

That happened to me, too. I think it was because the depth charges from one damaged the other. And now that you mention it, perhaps that is the source of what I was hearing. Just surface-to-surface fire hitting the water.

They could also be shooting at what they think is a parascope. I know when I was just figuring out convoy attacks while submerged I used the parascope alot and got that thing shot off a few times. I know some times the escorts get spooked and will start droping depth charges on "suspected enemy positions." Perhaps they will shoot at them too?

The only other thing that comes to mind is perhaps your bridge was poking out of the water if there was a storm going on. I have had my position given away a few times that way. It would have to be a hell of a powerful storm to get 15-20 meter seas. But if it did hapen some how I could see them shooting at you with the deck guns.

If you sink a neutral or a friendly ship you are automatically labelled an enemy for the next 24 hours, and any of that country's ships will attack you on sight.

The program works the same for destroyers. If one of them shoots at you and hits one of his own merchants or fellow DDs the others will attack him. This has been a known bug since the game was released.

The other bug still stands: you shouldn't be hearing surface sounds while submerged.

It happened during campaign, no convoy attack but just heavy dd traffic near enemy base.

They could be shooting star shells to illuminate suspected areas.
(the star shell is a flare on a parachute)
