All MultiSh3 does is allow you to change the name of your career directory in My Documents which would get overwritten by any multiple installs. So basically you can have limitless installs as long as you rename your settings directory different using the program.

So you can have 'SH3' as your basic stock install, 'GWX' for that install, 'NYGM', 'WAC' and so on. As long as you change the directory name, you can have as many installs as you like.

What yopu should do is have a stock install set up, then copy the whole folder and rename it 'Silent Hunter III (GWX)' and then install GWX to that copy and use MultiSH3 to set up a save folder.

Hope that makes sense.

This is what i do to have different version of SH3 installed.

Install Install SH3 and v1.4b patch
Copy orginal SH 3 install directory to a new directory and rename to something like GWX.
Install SH3 commander.
Install JSGME mod enabler.
Install multinstall to new directory that I just made.
Copy (Sh3 commander, JSGME Mod enabler and Multiinstall) over to the new directory you just ranamed.
Install Grey Wolf Mod into new renamed directory.
Double click mutliinstall and save to a 3 letter version of your new renamed install.
install Sh3 CFG file for GWX into SH 3 commander file and overwrite.
Now double click the JSGME application and let the program make a new folder for mods and close program.
Start mew game (go to tutorial Navagation), once in sub then exit game back to desktop.
Start SH3 commander (blue anchor at bottom) change path to new version of game. Exit commander.

I have 3 different versions of SH3 working with out having any problems

Hope this helps.

My preferred choice is to have a separate installation of SH3 Commander for each SH3 installation.

The newest version though does allow you to have only the one installation and the ability to point said installation to each individual install. (much easier than the previous requirement of adding a switch command).

Now I can work around the "issue" so I give it a chance....:lurk:

I found that by installing SH3 into the original install directory than copy over the contents to another directory. Naming it like GWX then i can install SH3 commander and JSGME and SH3 multi install into the new directory.
Now I have two directories with Sh3 installed.
I now can copy over the GWX directory to a 3rd directory and name that something else like testing. I still have to

Double click mutliinstall and save to a 3 letter version of your new renamed install.install Sh3 CFG file for GWX into SH 3 commander file and overwrite.
Now double click the JSGME application and let the program make a new folder for mods and close program.
Start mew game (go to tutorial Navagation), once in sub then exit game back to desktop.
Start SH3 commander (blue anchor at bottom) change path to new version of game. Exit commander.

This way I only have to install once. I don't have to use the l switch.
The testing directory I have is for testing other mods i come across to see if I like them.

So far I am quite happy using GWX with MAGUI mods.
My thanks to jimbuna and Makman94 for producing great mods that I have playing. Sorry if I missed anyone that helped make these mods. I know their are a lot of modders here at subsim, anyways my special thanks to all the modders. You all make the game more enjoyable to me.

Hope this made it a little clearer for you.
