So I get a contact which I determine by sonar that he's going about SES.. so I Flank it to the south. My lookouts spot him at around 45000 ft, and he's moving faster than my dear old S18.
I altered course where I get the closest range of around 30000 ft.
We got no ships on our last patrol (damaged a carrier), and my crew were getting superstitious about me, so I ordered flank speed and raised the battle flag for the chase. told the Weapons Officer to man the deck gun - he looked at me funny.. 'DO it' I barked :stare:
The next thing they couldn't believe what I did.. I got down onto the deck gun and kicked the trainer off.. and yelled at them..
'You want Kills .. then I get you kills.. load me HPs.. WP give me a range'
WP: '28695 ft Sir'.
Fired 1 shell - 'WP - Where did it land'
WP: 'Over..'
Fired - WP - Where.. Before Sir!"
'WP Range...'
WP - ' 28000 ft Sir'
Fire... a bright flash in the distance and the gun crew get excited.
Now the ship starts to ZigZag which is what I wanted, and we start gaining very fast. As we get closer I change to APs and start hammering the ship badly at 18000 ft - finally at around 9000ft the ship take its final AP.
I then brief the crew... 'The next person who gets superstitious on me joins that ship - We do not attack unless we can get away alive - Are you with me ??' - yessir yessir yessir....blah blah blah... 'As you were, Navigator resume course 345 !'
