I dont believe the "Saw it comming" one.

If a human insomuch as even touches a 4.8kv line while grounded they would be either exploded or burnt to a crisp.

One of my neighbours disagrees with you, though he did loose the full use of one arm in the process and that was with a 10kv line.

Try a generic electric fence. 10kv Bull-Stopper. Yes, it hurts (blew me half way down a hill when I used the wrong pliers - they had a hole in the insulating grips:damn:) But not lethal.

Amps on the other hand......................:dead:

The Darwin Awards are good, but a Dalwhinnie Malt is better! :D

True that, its the amperage that kills you

Even then it is not so simple.

1.5 Amps at 1,000v is more likely to kill you than 5 Amps at 1,000V.

Yup huge difference of 10,000v at milliamperes vs a transmission line (typically 4,160v btw) with thousands of amps available.

I do 'available fault current' calculations all the time and even on the secondary of a transformer where the voltage may be 480v. the available instantanious potental is astounding. Your average home panel is braced for a minimum of 10,000rms fault.

As to the voltage I just parroted what was in the article. I found it to be an odd voltage but hey thats what they reported.

Once I made a 9 inch screw driver into a 4 inch screw driver in about a hundredths of a second.

I made the fundamental mistake that you should never make around electricity.

I asked someone to power down a circuit. :damn::damn::damn::damn:

Lucky to be alive. Lesson learned. Education occured.

I'd say these guys are front-runners for the 2010 Awards:
