Anyone here uses gametap?

I'm actually surprised I haven't heard anything about it on here. Its kinda like Direct2Drive meets Gamefly/Block Buster. Its subscription based service, that lets you download select games. Once you download them, you can use them anytime you want day or night, for as long as you want, as long as gametap has the rights to the game and you pay your subscriptin. The only problem is you need your computer to be connected to the internet

They have 3 different type of accounts
1. Free, they have a lot of free games, such as Hitman. They rotate the games around.
2. Classic(you pay $4.99) and get a lot of classic PC games, such as Prince of persia, Pac Man, etc.
3. Premium(you pay $9.99)

In the Premium catagory they have:
Far Cry
Rainbow 6
Rainbow Three
Ghost Recon
Sid Meye's Pirates
Civilation 3 Gold
Civilation 4 +its expansions
Battlestations Midway
Supreme Commander
Evil Genius
Dangerous Waters
Sub Command
Tropico 1 through 3
Silent Hunter 2
Many many more.

Just started looking into it... Looks promising so far

Couldn't find Hitman in the free games anymore, but they do have Operation Flashpoint Game of the Year-edition(includes OFP, Resistance and Red Hammer), so go grab it if you don't have it yet! :yeah:

I totally forgot they had OFP.

Just be wary that they rotate the free games every couple months.
I've had a paid account for a while. I got it when they had a deal that your first month was only .99

I love the fact that If I have a premium account, I can set up 5 sub accounts that can be played on any computer. You can set parental controls on these sub-accounts if you have children, since they have a lot of child friendly games too.

They used to have an application that you downloaded to get the games, which I preferred to the browser thing going on now.
When the first brought on the browser part, and got rid of the application, there were a lot of problems with it not running properly, And they coulnd't get it to run on 64 based OSes at all. But they've buffed out these problems a while ago.

There is still a game here or there that wont run on Vista+Windows 7, but these are games that don't normally run on 7 or vista unless you tinker with them.

The one main problem with Gametap is you can not modify the game files at all. Which means no mods, and you have to use whatever patch they have running. Which means some games aren't always up to date.
