Just wondering, as I've not found any reference;
Did the KM make any attempt to cut the telegraph/phone lines of the trans-atlantic system? If not, why not? Cutting comms would be on my first page to-do list, given my druthers.

Wouldn't have much more than a nuisance effect. Due to the limited bandwidth of cable technology in the early 20th century, telegrams began to be routinely sent by radio in the 1920s instead of by cable, as was the first transatlantic telephone service. The actual first transatlantic telephone cable wasn't laid until the 1950s.
