OLDSMAR, Fla. — Authorities say a Florida man who called 911 claiming he'd been beaten and shot at was hoping the tale would get him a ride to a bar.

Most, if not all, states have laws that list making "false" 911 calls a misdemeanor. It is high time the State DA offices start prosecuting people for this. A hefty fine and up to a year in the jug will do wonders to educate these people.
