Anyone recommend one? preferrably free?

I'm trying out "Shoot", but i dont like it. You have to add the commands by hand by editing an xml config file. Not really what i was looking for, as i have ALOT of commands i want to add (for some other sim).

I had one a long time ago when i played Falcon4 Allied Force alot. But the name of it escapes me. It was made by some flight sim enthusiast. I think even the .exe icon was a plane.

I've always just used Shoot, even made a profile or two. It's useless for mouse control, though.

I use VAC. It is easy to configure and work rather well. It can be used on all types of software. It's not free but only about $10 one time charge.

I really don't think my puter would want to know what I'm yelling at it.

Search for SHIV Speech. It is free and I've found to be very responsive and relatively pain free. You have to go into Windows and "teach" it to recognize your voice (in Control Panel etc IIRC). The SH4 Speech thread should tell you what you need to know.

It's fairly flexible and allows you to put in your own version for commands, for example:
I say "Up scope" and the Attack Periscope raises,
I say "Down scope" and down it comes.
I say "Take her down" and the AI respond "Rig boat for normal dive..." etc
I say "Come left 20etc degrees" and the AI responds "Yes sir, new course ### degrees".
You get the idea. It certainly adds another element of immersion for me.
To be honest, the only difficulty you may have is the initial setup which involves "teaching" Windows to recognize your voice etc.
