hey guys, im a veteran of silent hunter 3 and the war in the atlantic, and looking to expand my horizons, decided to purchase silent hunter 4. however, i realize, that in these american subs, there is no more torpedo computer/attack map, or not one that i have found. is this (in my opinion) crucial feature missing, or if it is there, where can i find it'.

thanks in advance

If your playing the stock game click the second button from the left under the map tab, it will take you to the attack map.

Load up TMOkeys and mash your old friend F6 there! And shift-i will give you the "hey pal, identify that target for me, will ya?" function.

Hey Kimmers! We're pretty much in the same situation! I used to play SHIII a lot, but hadn't put off to sea again for a long long time until this week, when I started enjoying SHIV. I'm having a hard time struggling with the manual targetting system once again, but I guess it should come back to me in a while.
As per the attack map issue, what Warlord just said should help you out... it is there, at least it is there for me.

Well, I have bad news: manual targeting is very different in an American boat than it is in a German one. So anything that "comes back" will be mostly wrong. Only general principles will transfer.

However, you will find that being good in a U-Boat makes you better in a fleet boat. It gets you out of the straitjacket of the conventional US targeting procedure and opens up a whole range of other attack strategies. But, as usual, you'll find that even they have their own flavor in a fleet boat. U-Boat techniques were the whole inspiration for my Sub Skipper's Bag of Tricks (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=146795) stickied thread and a trip over there will put you on very familiar ground.

Have fun!

He he! Thanks!
I've never been that good though, but managed to sent my fair share of tonnage to the bottom:arrgh!:.
