I was under the impression christmas would bring us many more screens and footage. I guess i was wrong. I simply cant watch a 2 minute in-game clip over and over again without getting bored. I forsee a new information blackout .

If you are getting bored, there is about 20 zillion other things you can do instead of sitting in a dark corner wating for SHV preview material.
The game is out within 3 months anyway, there must be another game or something to keep you distracted for that period.
So STOP watching the engine demo video over and over- and go do something else before you drive your self insane man :D

If you have Windows 7, play some chess its great fun, (COD Modern warfare 2? PAH!!!)
Or go pick fight with skybird in the GT forums,
or download you favorite TV show,
or Join facebook and play farmville
or re-dercoate your christmas tree with meat - to confused your wife & relatives
or drink lots of cough syrup and then watch cartoons
or go to a museum and start randomly screaming jiberish in Polish.
or go skateboarding in the nude
or go on a cocaine binge with 3 hookers!?
or find out where I live then come to my house to be force fed paella by my spanish inlaws
anything!
The possibilities are endless!

I'm reinstalling old games and giving them a run-through. Deus Ex, Dragon Age, Call of Duty 2, SH3, Civ IV....

I have plenty to keep myself occupied for the next 3 months.

Im playing though Half Life 2 Ephisode 2 at the moment. Ditched PT boats already... lack of features & gametypes means its gets boring very quickly. :yawn:

So far we've had a few screen shots (mostly composed), an early demo of the graphics engine, a couple of interviews targeted at 'mainstream' and a few posts from the dev team.

What we dont have is any real info, hence the sub sim community speculates and pessimism creeps in.

If UBI had its 'thinking' hat on it would try to generate 'enthusiasm' for SH5. If the sub-sim community were better informed I'm sure they would act as ambassadors for the game.

But no, we're simply treated like a children with 'wait and see' comments and arrogant aloofness. This attitude does no favours for UBI, or it's marketing drive.

Time UBI woke up to intelligent thinking rather than the long dead and buried 1st yr degree marketing tactics it has so far employed.

Give us SUBSTANCE and we will give you our support. GIve us a repeat of SH4 and we will give you the bird.

i agree.

i also dislike the way of information policy. the q/a thread is far to less informative. the updates on their "community-sites" on facebook, etc. are also far from beeing satisfying. even they claimed to have a "community-developer"...lol...

as ubi not seems to be interested in involving the community the way we want to be involved, our only alternative is to wait for the release, hoping the final game is modable and many things can be "corrected" afterwards.

the demo on german ubi-tv is lol, a mess with other words. even its a prebeta-release..the interior looks loveless detailed, the interface is horrible, the effects are crappy. lets hope, they make a good gameplay! the graphical things are our part...as every time. hopefully they do not leave the major part of "todos" for us.

sh4 was a shot in the ass. you see it on this forum...the post count speaks for itself.

What's the issue? You know full well that the next set of Q&A will be like the last:

Q: Will there be Wolfpacks?
A: YES, or maybe no. But there'll be first person view!:yeah:

Q: Will the horizontal dive bug problem of the subs in Silent Hunter 4 will be fixed in SH5?
A: Look, pretty water.:yeah:

Q: Will we get a meaningful manual?
A: Meaningful? Manual?:yeah:

Q: Will we be able to control Port and Starboard engines of the U-Boat independently?
A: You'll be able to walk the entire length of the boat with our great FPS-like enhancement!:yeah:

Q: <insert inconsequential or minor question here>
A: <insert political answer which has a lot of words but manages to clearly avoid answering the question>

IMHO giving us nothing is more meaningful than giving us half baked, half decided and half arsed answers. I'm happy to wait, as the information I've seen so far is next to useless and does no more than raise more questions than it answers. Not worth bothering about it now until I have it in my hands and can evaluate it for myself.
