View Full Version : I want a Realistic Toilet

In previous sub sims whenever the call of nature rose, I placed myself in the Captain's Cabin, left the computer and performed my business.
But now with Sh 5 and an entire submarine at our finget tips we should also get a toilet! Hopefully one without provisions stuffed in it.
Ahhhh yes.....immersion....

50 computer generated men using the one available one toilet. Be thankful the game isn't being presented in aroma-o-rama for more immersion. :O:

Dident someone sink a sub by using a toilet improperly?
That is very funny. Thanks for the post Wolfgang42. It will be interesting to see what UBI has in store for the interior of the sub and what a person can do.

You're probably thinking of the U-1206. Scuttled by it's own hi-tech head.

So if we get that you can now place yourself in the head, leave the computer to go to the real head.

There would have to be a seperate training mission, with a seperate manual. How would the developers ever model opening valves in the wrong sequence and "getting your own back"????

Toilet is an essential piece of equipment.
Its also practically a cult in fps as its the one thing you can compare game to game.
Having taps you can turn on/off, a mirror, light switch, flushable toilet it all adds to the realism. No one likes to see a door you cannot open in an environment supposed aiming to be realistic.

Anyone remember the "Duke Nukem 3D"? There was a possibility of using the toilet - with no impact on the game but it was very funny.
I wonder whether this option will ship pollution by chlorine (defective batteries, and leaks), moisture (long time submerged), the smell of urine (blocked toilet on high depths). It could be done by the colors of the air:
green - chlorine
yellow - the smell of urine
white - moisture
If submarine longer stays in the deep then the color of the air is stronger and stronger...
Moisture:

Urine:
http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/9392/screenhunteru.jpg
Chloride:
http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/7866/screenhunterch.jpg
Do you feel the need to emergency surface your ship now?

Flushing the toilet in a submarine is a major operation - much more than just pushing a handle. Do you also want the part where you wait in line for five other guys before you can use the one toilet available? Do you also want to see the part where the toilet is locked while in battle, as mentioned before, and see the guys going in a pot in the control room?
Do you also want to see people puking while the depth charges are falling all around? I don't.

We have seen from the SH5 trailer part of the game being played out in FPS, like it or not there is a comparison and cross over between genres.

Gosh so many questions, but in all seriousness what I expect to see is it being there as part of the environment, I dont expect the Captain to use it (functionally) I would like to see crew members entering and leaving
the compartment. When in use I would like to see the door closed and an in use light on (just like in Das Boot).
The main point then is it should be there as part of the environment.

I agree with BigBANGtheory, since it is a simulator we can walk around in there should not be ANY part of the uboat that is "off-limits" for the captain. For instance I would like to climb down into the battery compartment, or will that be "off-limits" too? Even if I can't do anything there I would like to check it out.

There's no reason to model things that serve no purpose in the game.

It would serve a purpose, giving you the feeling of being in a serious simulator where the developers have payed attention to details.

I'm talking about the entire boat, not a single compartment should be left out, and yes that includes the toilet.
But I do have high standards when it comes to simulators, SH3 for instance was an insult. A couple of houres with it and you could se right through the waferthin code behind it. The physics model was ridiculus, calling it a simulator was really too much. (never played SH4 though)

Not making fun of the way he speaks, making fun of the way he's trying to speak. Meaning his English accent is much too exaggerated to be authentic. I don't know anybody from England who speaks that way, not even Sherlock Holmes. But I really couldn't care less, I might be wrong.

4Para if I'm wrong, then my sincerest apology to you my good Sir, cherrio. (1) Sir Ian, Very well, when i have the impertinence to climb into your posts, country, to deliver a speech then one may tell me my conduct, duty, manners etc.. (2) You have the prerogative to state your opinion and indeed you must, but a fine line shall be drawn. It costs nothing to be polite, how one is addressed should matter not if kindness, punctuality, respect is amongst the offering. (3) Lanuage may be expressed in many forms, gentry, snobbery, exaggerated, common, slang, etc and types through time, most will see i sway 18th cent as opposed to 19th, with modern additions to aid the appropriate understanding, ie " Very good sir, well said " as opposed to " Bravo old chap, jolly good " tis depend how thy see fit to pronounce and use worthy, Worthie wording to align in some form of harmonius proportion within the correct context. (4) I hold fourth sensibly, not to retaliate, and nor test my own standing against grossness of insult, this would not be a good lesson in the rules of gentry. I hope this is a little more articulate for you, and my humble apologies to the thread host. As for sherlock holmes sir, to many variations of mixed english. :know: Thank you.
