A rhastaman from Nigeria, went to Amsterdam and then took a flight to Michigan as stoned as a man can get with a makeshift "explosive" device, burnt himself while trying to use it and while the plane was on the ground. When caught, he stated he was working for Al Kaida.
Pretty lame reason for Obama to start an African campaign...
Oh and by the way, african names have nothing to do with Middle Eastern and this man is way too "black" to be Middle Eastern.
No offense towards anyone but the American Government.
Im really tired of all this "Middle East is jealous of us cause we preserve freedom".

You havn't travelled much.
But anyway leaving side the historic ethnic diversity of pre colonial Nigeria, the increased diversity from the colonial era and now the more modern diversity from the oil production phase...can you tell me in simple but difinitive terms what colour a Nigerian is?
Now explain what colour a middle eaterner is.
Maybe explain what a black arab, Afro-turk and African Jew are amd show some colour as a measure.
While you are at it can you explain how someone who had nothing to do with the middle east was apparently in places like Dubai and Yemen, which if I am not much mistaken and they haven't moved across the globe are in a place known as the middle east.

On the ground? Do you read the news. It was during landing approach and where do know that he was stoned and is a rhastaman?
If he was a rhasta I'd doubt he would be blowing anything up.

The father of the terrorist is a former Nigerian ministre and banker. He has warned the US of his own son, saying that he admired Al Quaida and had turned to strict Islam. Once again we see an Islamic terrorist not matching the still often assumed "typical" schemes of character and social background of terrorists: being poor, uneducated and social loosers without perspectives, and religion being the less attractice for them the higher their social class and education is.

How do you know that he travelled to Dubai and Yemen?
I've watched the Greek news and read some articles from international media and there was no mention that this guy was to middle east.
@XabbaRus
I've watched the news mate, in a Greek channel, broadcasted by BBC.
They said that the plane was on the ground at the time of the event and all the shots of the "terrorist" were showing him almost crawling.
They also said that he flew from Nigeria to Amsterdam, stayed a while and then flew to USA.
While they dont say it directly, they let it float. "This man was stoned".

Well its metioned in the opening piece, mentioned a few more times throughout the topic, its mentioned in just about every media outlet that covered the story....so I think it was only one or two who didn't realise the middle eastern link.
Though I wonder....

Im talking about the "typical" of each race mate.
Athens is full of africans and middle eastern people like pakistans, iranians etc.
There are base differences between them like the lips, the shape of the face, height, skin color.

Wow Pakistan is now the middle east?

Don't talk rubbish, I just gave you examples of typical africans and middle easterners and there is such a variety there in all aspects that it demonstrates that your "typical" thing doesn't exist.
Or do all Greeks look like Telly Savalas or would he be more of a typical european with his lips, skin colour, face and height or would it be Arnold Schwarzenegger that is the right shape and colour?
Would either of them be more American looking or would that be someone like Mike Tyson?

Are you sure those are not mexicans or indonesians or maybe even polynesians , though some polynesians may look more like what you think Africans look like? :rotfl2:
End of story!
The story was over when your notion was initially shown to be incorrect.
Now that you have gone on yourself to show in pictures how incorrect it was its the equivalent of you writing an epitaph over your dead notion and burying your own claim.

Lt. Fillipidis - let me share some advice with you. Ever heard the saying "Don't feed the troll"? If so - it applies here....:salute:
Now - the real issue here is the lack of security - both by our "international partners" as well as our own people. The reality is that other countries have different security protocols than we do for flights originating from theUS. One thing that I have not seen proposed from this mess is why we don't mandate our own screening rules and people for US bound flights. This way, regardless of what country the flight originates in, if its inbound to the US - it has to meet not only the host country's security checks, but our own as well.
Now I throw this out there with the caveat that my experience with international flights and the standards involving them is limited, so there might be problems with it. But it makes sense to me. Then again - if it makes sense, maybe that is the problem?

Especially not with pictures of ginger haired africans or people might say they look like typical Glaswegians. After all everone knows people in Glasgow have ginger hair, and as they are europeans they must be typical.
Now - the real issue here is the lack of security
The real issue is the same as it was on 9/11, intelligence agencies not passing on information.

You can, there are several countries where there is a presence. The catch is that you as a US tax payer has to pay for it and some americans are very touchy about paying tax.
If you followed topics rather than ignoring those with different views you would have noticed that mandating screening rules in foriegn airports has been mentioned already in relation to Israeli flights.

I do not fly, so I was surprised to learn in the news that even for flights to the US, there are some hilarous security holes. For example you are prevented to carry more than a minimum of certain items and liquids with you, you have to give them up at the security gate. After the security control for such items, they showed on TV, there are the duty-free-shops.
And there you can buy all the stuff again that you just have handed over during the security control. Alcohol, razors, electronics, cleaner agents. Even when boarding flights to the US, Haplo.
German police and the German pilot's union demand these shops to either get banned to before the control gates, or that they are prohibited from selling all classes of goods and items that can be sued as weapons or in buiolding an explosive device.
I have a simple security advise for you, and it is free: avoid to make flights that you can avoid! I came around quite a bit - but I never was aboard an airliner, and I even banged heads with a boss over it. It took more time, but tremendously added to the overall experience. You actually could see again where you are travelling. Airliners are just like beaming.

You miss the point about the liquids, the controls on liquids are for a very specific purpose, purchasing liquids in the airside shops has no relation to that at all.

Take a train or bus instead, just avoid trains and buses in places like errrrrr...towns and cities where someone might possibly blow one up.
