That's pretty insane. Hasn't she heard of a little something called "discipline"?

That crap wouldn't have flown in my house. My parents would have tossed the play station in the garbage and whipped my butt.

It might have been more productive if she'd simply called a local electrician and asked where her home mains switch should be located.

Well its like this.

I can afford a few play stations or XBOX systems.

I would have simply said "You have 5 seconds to turn that ****** off before i beat it into a million pieces"

if the 5 seconds expired without the child turning it off, within the next 20 seconds he would be sweeping up little bits of plastic and circuitry.

if the kid actually turned it off, i would send him to bed, collect the controllers and throw the circuit breaker to his room until the next morning.

you have to take a hard line with little bastards.

I had a friend of mine once in high school, came home bitching up a storm about how her friends had really nice four post beds and nice furniture in their rooms and all she had was old crap.

her dad said "Well sweety, while you are at school tomorrow I'll see what i can do about that."

appeased, she went to bed. and to school the next day.

while at school, her father rented a storage unit down the road... and moved ALL of her furniture and worldly possessions into it.

Remaining in the room was a single sheet, one pillow, an overturned milk crate with an alarm clock, and 3 or 4 other milk crates which her clothing had been placed into.

she got her original furniture back after 30 days. :har:

NEVER complained about anything of the sort again

The original post is funny to the point of being ridiculous.
Your kid won't stop playing games after you asked and you did WHAT??
You have got to be kidding me.... :nope:

That crap wouldn't have flown in my house. My parents would have tossed the play station in the garbage and whipped my butt.

Same here!

That is a great story. :yeah:for the parent.

In my eyes you are looser if you cannot control/discipline your kids. This whole idea of "hands off" parenting in the US stinks.

Indeed common sense tells you to take the fixation away from the spoiled child and deal with it.

Yet this mother choose to ask for the goverments help instead of dealing with the issue on her own.

She really needed to deal with this on some other level. She said she had church support, why not that instead?

But its so much easier to pick up the phone, take resources away from more important tasks and deal with a bratty child.

Good god where are we headed?

This does the unintentional and promotes playing Grand Theft Auto, just more free advertisement for them.

How did the kid get the game anyways? If it's rated M, he had to have someone over 17 purchase it with him.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the other element of this story - the lack of a father figure. My dad would have whipped my ass, and I would have whipped MY children's asses if it ever got to that point.

The point is that having a dominant male involved is a great deterrent for this type of behavior.

I couldn't imagine any self respecting father sticking around having to be constantly reminded he was partly responsible for breeding something of that elk :DL
