No Clay, this is a voluntary fundraiser (http://www.subsim.com/sh2fleet_forms/donation_fundraiser.htm), you do not have to donate if you do not wish to or if you cannot afford to. The board will not go away as long as some members here will donate. To keep things running it takes a little help from a lot of people, but of course not everyone can afford it.

Hope things improve for you soon, brother, happy holidays.

Neal

It's okay, Clay. I'm out of work again and don't have a penny to my name. I'll donate when and if I can.

I really like reading your posts, you crusty curmudgeon, you. Don't you ever stop posting.

Clay, many of us are going through hard times. I've got a severe nerve disease. Once made...good money through my own business, now we are in survival mode.

No need to be offended by the site asking for some help, not demanding it. Most do and would have that right. Still, think of the amount of fun you get from this site and the game. I've never paid for a mod. Come to this site for advice and just to rant. Overall, the mods have made the game and these forums provide a place to discuss them, ask, and download them for free. When it comes to entertainment, talk about a bang for your buck. Hundreds of hours of game time and discussion from so many that help for free after you buy the game which is cheap

I was stuck flat on my back for almost 8 months..and still can't do much and was very active before. I about went nuts. Really never played games before or posted on forums. My wife knew I loved WW2 history, mostly sub warfare and got me this game. I was like...aw, this is kiddie stuff for my age, but found the game realistic. Was amazed so many older people play it. This site and a few others, the game, mods, online friendship got me through almost insane pain and boredom for almost a year. Really, it's more than the game. Most have a love for history and you seldom find a game...with mods, that mimic that historical experience on such a real level and a forum where people really love history and respect the men of that era.

So people that can help actually do many a great favor in providing outlets, tools, ect...to use. I can't say thanks enough to those that support the site. You do more than keep a site up, you're giving to many that go through hardtimes an outlet, so keep that in mind. They give so much time for the love of the game and community. They don't get a salary and what money comes in doesn't go in their pockets, it just keeps things running here.

Let's thank all of those that are willing to do all that they do and ask nothing but to keep being able to do it.

No worries clayp I really don't think the members are going to let the lights go out. Hopefully I'll be able to donate something soon, after all this place is saving me a fortune in therapy costs http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae228/g2banything/killersmiley.gif I'm really enjoying survival mode.

Thanks Neal and everyone behind the curtain :D

No problem, Clay. I am just as annoyed when a website solicits donations as the next guy. But basic economics: without a cool donation mod like Pacific Aces or GWX3 to entice people to donate, with so many members blocking the two ads we run in the forum, and with Amazon sales dropping, I have to rely on the members for support. Of course, not everyone can help, not everyone will help. But usually the guys here will pitch in once a year or so and assist me.

For what it's worth, I'm unemployed too (and I don't ever have a wife :wah:...but maybe that's a good thing for me, I would driver her crazy :haha:).

Of course donate. The site goes on past the upcoming year. Need to think longevity.
