Just started my first, left Lorient, 1941 April, clock synchronized.

Do you think that in case of u-boot flooding I should flood the bathroom and let it spread all around?

Nah, just spill oil all around your room, put in some machinery to limit the space, spill enormous amounts of water, so much that it becomes unhealthy.
Take baths only once a week and never, and i mean NEVER clean up your room or let light in. You can have all food you need in your room. But you will have a feeding schedule.

Living in a high volcanic activity area could add some more realism. You know, all the shaking and trembling.

Yea I got the red lightbulbs all around the flat, but I think my realism is doomed. My woman tells me I can't neglect having a bath. Luckily she's leaving tomorrow (not for good). I kinda get why there were no women aboard submarines.

Anyway I'm heading northwest in BF51, trying to stink desperately.

I think the orginal poster should make his girlfriend wait until he's in port before making any *ahem* liberty calls.

Position: quadrant BF17
Heading: NW

On designated course around Ireland. Last sitrep with BdU at 14:27, all nominal aboard the ship, weather is good, nothing sighted/heard yet. No sound contacts. Tired crewmembers are checked and replaced at 2-3 hours check intervals.

(Around 1100, spent 2 hours submerged at 2 knots. I had to leave for an assignment at work.)

Interestingly, the CO is never tired. I suspect drug abuse, but I couldn't care less. He certainly does not share his stash with the NO. WO is on constant leave, as there is nothing to blow up (yet!).

The april-december time shift is disturbing. IRL I wake up at 0700 still in darkness, but ingame it's already aircrafty sunshine. I sense trouble.

Sailing with GWX3, Thomsen's sound+music+ships (+dockside), longer repair times (with collision, as disabling it had very disturbing sideeffects), Rapt0r's uniforms, Q-Ship, torpedo damage, 16km.

Position: quadrant BF12
Heading: NE

16:30 Neue funkspruch! Enemy eastward bound convoy sighted 60km northeast to our position. In pursuit at flank. Estimated contact at 60km (time 1930).

(radio contact noticed at 1739...)

20:00 - schiff gesichtet! We confirm the 18:41 BdU report, the convoy is a large convoy, serious tonnage shows up in the binoculars. V&W and Town class destroyers on our port, on sideways zigzag patrol. Going decks awash, increasing distance from convoy, will surface and continue flanking at safe distance.

23:39 - breaking contact. Interception was a failure. Despite careful planning, the convoy changed direction (E->SE) about 4km from our calculated position, and I had a Flower corvette headed straight at me.

Wanting to live another day, I decided to abort the run, launched a magetic T2 at 4m towards the corvette. Hit, sank.

Turned back west and tried to hit some targets. Only one Ore Carrier was hit (light damage towards the bow), but didn't sink. Tried a stern shot against another Flower, but it speeded up and the torpedo passed behind it.

Not following the "Convoy of Scheiss Glück", since it's xmas tomorrow and I'm away for the week :) Will continue with a few uneventful days accelerated when I get back.

Additional note: the immersion-killer sunset difference between 17th April (19:37) and 23rd December (15:57) will be fixed by shifting game/real time with 4 hours. :( The next realtime patrol will have to be played on the exact date.

22:28 - continuing. Time was accelerated 1024x until Apr 19. Meanwhile one motor vessel and one ore carrier were sunk because they got in the way. Currently in AM18 heading NWN. Ingame time set to match the IRL day-night time (19:52->22:31). No more night hunts while the sun is shining behind my screen!

Poor motor vessel. :rotfl2:

Don't forget to occasionally hit yourself in the face with a hammer when you are sailing through heavy weather.
Just for the purposes of immersion you understand.

Looks like I'll be postponing realtime patrols after all... The difference between daytime lengths can't be nicely fixed. This stuff needs to be done at the exact date (meaning one realtime patrol per ingame year). :(

Navy beans for breakfast. I piece toast (dark bread), coffee.
Boiled cabbage and sausage for noon meal. Apple juice.
Kraut and pork chops for supper. Apple sauce, coffee.

Repeat menu for two weeks.

Limit yourself only two squares of AW when making a deposit in the head.

place open tin of diesel fuel beneath your bunk, don't change the sheets or pillow case for a month.

Remain celibate for entire cruise.

(tell your better half your performing an ancient druid purification ritual, post winter solstice.)

btw, after two weeks of this diet I guarantee your shorts will look like the mud flaps on a swamp buggy.

Way to go for a Norwegian campaign!

Navy beans for breakfast. I piece toast (dark bread), coffee.

I have some remnant packs of US Army MRE (Meal-Ready-to-Eat), but not nearly enough for a whole patrol :)
