Ended last career after 6 patrols and 100k tons in TMO 1.9 in a Balao, decided to retire in March 1945.

New career decided to give the updated RSRD a run with TMO 1.9.

USS Skipjack(Salmon) out of Fremantle, departed in April 1942 for Celebes Sea, sank one merchant there near Tawi Tawi after firing 6 torpedos, four prematurely exploded. Then went to Sulu Sea, sank another. Then in South China Sea, sank another.9 torpedos left and 60 percent fuel, so plenty of time to do some more damage.

Anyway, anyone know where the convoys in South China Sea are around late May early June 1942 in RSRD? Kind of boring not having to evade any DD's so far.Singles are just too easy, even at 100 realism.

I should have a few SS of that area during that time I'll try to post later. I can't remember the name of the pass, but there is a bigger island sort of in the middle. The pass starts with a M, but isn't marked, but you get patrols there. It's a little wnw of Kuching, Borneo. You should find convoys coming from Kuching, through the pass then down to singy. I know one large one comes through late May, but I'll have to find the SS.

I prefer Java Feb and March of 42, you can attack 4 convoys 30-50 ships throughout those two months, docking or refitting at Surabaya. If you haven't taken on these....you gotta do it. Once you finish with the 50 plus ship Java force, you can refit and catch another one near Merak. One night 3 convoys get really close and at the right spot you can pick them all up on sonar and have a 100 ships to take on in shallow water, hopefully in stormy weather.

I prefer the Solomons and Bismark in May and June. Course you have several TF coming down the slot, but also several large TF and a few convoys with Pass. liners. Sit west of Rabual in the shipping lane, you'll find plenty of convoys...I let the singles go. Also Wewak several show up coming from Palau. If you're willing to snoop in the shallows at Shortland, that's where most of the groups hang around during the day before they run down the slot at night....just be careful, hard having 12 DD's on you.

If you want you can head to the Bungo in May and catch the Midway TF coming out in one long single row with just a few dd's. I think it's May 24, but fairly sure it 20...something.

I try to take SS's of all convoys and TF that I find, so I'll try to load some up of that area, but I spend most of my time in May....in the Solomons and Bismark Sea up tp Palau. I've gone this career and don't think I've sunk but two singles...rather let em pass and go for convoys.

I finally found the Philippines invasion force near the San Bern area. I've gotten patrols in that area many times and never found anything. I hung around later and found a large convoy that had 5 Chitose and about 30 other ships.

I've sorta worked a maddness and know where to go, mainly attack invasion forces. You can find a few almost any month, but I try to work from one to the other. Course it's fun when you run into other stuff you haven't seen.

Obvious you know to take the Special Officer that gives you more contact from friendlys....you'll see more convoys show up in your area.
