Historically, how long, on average, do you guys think a U-Boat would stay in port between patrols?

Thanks,

Around 20 to 30 days in most cases. (source www.uboat.net (http://www.uboat.net), you ll get patrol info for uboats with date of departure and arrival ex: http://www.uboat.net/men/commanders/1373.html

Depends on the time of the war...
U 99 spent 3 days in port in june and 4 days in port in july of '40.But thats stuff for the record book.
3 to 4 weeks with no or little damage, months with major overhauls.

I always give my crew a 30 day leave. Then, it's back to sea.

I always recommend SH3 Commander, as this is another of its great functions: Randomized days in port. It varies from year to year, based on the actual averages.

I've spent five days in port, and I've spent 50 days in port, all due to excellent research by JScones and friends.

This is off-topic but I just returned to my new port of Flensburg yesterday after a successful patrol. The arrival date was December 24, 1944. Not sure about you guys, but this means a lot to me.

Over the "years" (career years) I've gotten so attached to my crew that I feel I know them personally. So it was a great feeling when I brought them home safe just in time for Christmas to spend some much-needed and deserved time with their families.

Man, I remember that day in early 1944 when an air attack cost me 6 of my most experienced crew members. I literally felt like a failure as a captain. :wah:

The patrol was also very successful. I came across an American oil tanker convoy off the coast of the Ireland escorted by six American destroyers. I bagged three of the destroyers with Zaunkonig II torpedoes and then used my LUT torpedoes to bag some oil tankers. One hit in the mid-section usually blew 'em up. I guess the Tommy's will be spending the winter without heating oil. :yeah:
