nice video thanks..

do's mean the outcome of the war can be changed also? or is it dynamic (with strings)

what happens if your such a competent captain that you sink ALL the british battleships.. (not me by the way ill stick the lone freighters or passenger liners with no escorts) :salute: surely old Blighty couldnt of won without its iron tubs..

Bismarck's departure i wonder if on that date you were there seeing it leaving port never to return.. if its this dynamic then it will be fantastic..

The only 'gripe', well isn't really a gripe i just hope there is ALOT of animations routines for the crew so they dont do the same thing every 2 seconds when idle as that would grind very quickly indeed...

great vid though thanks:DL

i hope it doens't mean if you choose op drumbeat you just play during that time and then the "game ends" or... if you choose "the happy times" the campaign ends when the manure collides with the air moving device*...
maybe it gives you certain "dates" to start the campaign like in sh4?

I recognize that some concepts in the new game are really intriguing and disturbing like the "unlock" word and now the "campaign numbers".

Isn't the SH4 system with the cutscenes basically the same thing?

Wait i am confused, what do they mean with the 10 campaigns ?
Do they mean we all have to start them seperate or that they will be implented in to one carreer like we had in SH3 and SH4 ?

Ritmeister
12-19-09, 12:23 PM
Just a wild guess, but I think the reference to campaigns might mean just a an expanded version of what we have come to know as scenarios, but much longer and more detailed in scope and length. THeres still a reference to a full what you might call career which is labeled as dynamic where critical interactions can affect the course of the whole war. How all this comes together remains to be seen. In the greatest possibility what happens if you strangle England, or do such damage to the RUssian convoys. How will this affect the missions you see further down the line? Just speculating mind you.

As someone said I think the public info is being scripted by lawyers and politicians! :rotfl2:

And now you guys know what Elanaiba looks and sounds like.

I agree with Ritmeister. It sounds to me like the 'Campaigns' are extended scenarios involving various operations.

All I want is to hear one of the devs saying - "You are gonna have a full, 1939-45 dynamic canmpaign, you will be able to sail anywhere provided you got the fuel".
He did say "...also the dynamic campaign". We raised such a fuss over the early SH3 announcement that that game would not have one that it was delayed for six months while they fixed it (after they took a couple of polls to make sure what we really wanted).

I don't think there's anything to worry about.

That was the impression I got too. It's hard to think they'd go backwards, especially given the stink raised with the SH3 dynamic campaign issue.

Pack size distribution (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Group_size_measures) of the African Wild Dog.

Pack is a social group of conspecific canids (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Canidae). Not all species of canids - notably the red fox (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Red_fox) - form packs. Pack size (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Group_size_measures) and social behaviour (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Social_behaviour) within packs varies across species.
[edit (http://www.subsim.com/w/index.php?title=Pack_(canine)&action=edit&section=1)] Examples

African wild dogs (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/African_Wild_Dog) (Lycaon pictus) live and hunt in packs. Males assist in raising the pups, and remain with their pack for life, while the females leave their birth pack at about age two and a half years old to join a pack with no females. Males outnumber the females in a pack, and usually only one female breeds, with all of the males. African wild dogs are not territorial, and they hunt cooperatively in their packs, running down large game and tearing it apart. They cooperate in caring for wounded and sick pack members as well as the young.[1] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-0)
Gray wolves (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Gray_Wolf) (Canis lupus) usually live in packs which consist of the adult parents and their offspring of perhaps the last 2 or 3 years. The adult parents are usually unrelated and other unrelated wolves may sometimes join the pack.[2] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-1)
Black-backed jackals (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Black-backed_Jackal) (Canis mesomelas) have a single long term mate, and usually hunt singly or in pairs. Both parents care for the young, and the parents and their current offspring are the pack. They will cooperate in larger packs to hunt large game.[3] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-2)
The Ethiopian Wolf (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Ethiopian_Wolf) (Canis simensis) has different social behavior from the gray wolf: pack members hunt alone for rodents, and come together mainly to defend their territory from other packs.[4] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-3)
New Guinea Singing Dog (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/New_Guinea_Singing_Dog) (Canis lupus dingo): In 1994, studies were done in Oregon on a captive social group of New Guinea Singing Dogs. Physical attacks between same-sex adults when females were in estrus led to them being kept in pairs; attacks were only between equals and inferiors in the pack hierarchy, never on higher ranking individuals. Pairs would tolerate their offspring through one or two breeding seasons. When kept together, they exhibited distinctive behaviours. They do not use the "play bow" common among other Canis. Food is shared equally, not fought over, and all adults and adolescents regurgitate food for the young. They engage in choral howling, but without dominance behaviour that has been seen in wolf and coyote pack howling.[5] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-4)
Domestic dogs (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Dog_behavior) (Canis lupus): Despite being genetically the same species as the grey wolf, it is unclear what the similarities are between the pack behaviour of the dog and the gray wolf. Domesticated dogs have had humans as part of dog social structure for at least 12,000 years, and human behaviour is not the same as wolf behaviour. Studies of dog behaviour include studies of dogs and their interactions with humans (example [6] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-5)), "dumped" or "road" dogs that were raised by humans and then left to fend for themselves (The Tuscany Dog Project[7] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-6)), feral dogs not attached to humans (Carolina Dog (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Carolina_Dog)), and feral dog packs that live in association with human villages or camps (New Guinea Singing Dog (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/New_Guinea_Singing_Dog)). Pack structure and behaviour varies greatly.

You could earn gold at the Olympics with your ability to jump to conclusions. Man, it was like a single sentence blurb and you somehow extrapolated that into something the SH serious has never done.

From the interviews and previews posted here and on front page, the impression I get is that the devs, in an effort to expand their audience, are trying to make this game all things to all people.

This approach works well in politics, where the aim is simply to get elected, any way, any how. People, in general, are stupid and gullible, and it would be quite amusing if it weren't so damning an indictment, to watch them buy into the promises and hype over and over again.

It always ends in disappointment.

Of course the goal of UBISoft and the devs is to sell the game, any way, any how.

So how is this likely to end...?

Personally I have a bad feeling that SH4 is the last sub sim we're likely see for some time, if not ever.
