Dissaray

I was attacking a merchant ship, large cargo I think, just a moment ago. It was a stragaler from a convoy I had hit. Not sure if it was one of the ships I damaged or not but it was well back from the rest so I thought it was safe to engage with my deck gun, it was also unarmed this being '41.
One of the convoy escorts must have been alerted to my nefarious deads and came to save the day. I didn't notice it untill it was close, realy close. The thing that got my attention was when the heavy macheen guns rounds started pinging off my hull. Then I turned my attention to this new attacker. I couldn't dive beacouse as soon as I turned my attention to this war ship a large round smashed into my bow dive planes preventing me from geting down quick enugh to avoid geting dead. I figured I was going down and I might as well take down as many Tommy sailors as I can. I let fly with my gun and the first round hit their mast and blew it off the ship. The second round I aimed lower, trying to kill their forward batery of guns. My shot laned right where I wanted it to, right smack into the top of the forwoard turet or just below the second turet. I couldn't get a third shot off on them due to the reload time, no gunnery spcialist, so I put more rounds into my original target thinking I might be able to get it to go down with me.
The DD, a V&W class ship, ramed me on its pass; I had expected that and had my repair crew alredy on hand to limit the flooding which was substantal at this point due to the hits I had already taken but it was coming under control. All the suden I hear explosions and my crew chearing a kill. I leave the deck gun for the bridge and swivle around to see the V&W Tommy bastard on fire, the forward batery blasting off the ship and listing hard! I sank them in one substantive hit! :rotfl2: How is that for being more agresive?
I must have hit that sweet forward magazine. The BDU would have you belive that you can't win a gun duel with a DD, obviously they don't know what they are talking about. Unfortunatly I did end up sinking when the second V&W class escort came in to save the day. The moral of the story is: You can win a gun fight with one distroyer but when there are two you should run away.
