SH3 vs SH4 regarding destroyer abilities

From the SH3 forum I asked

can they hear you while depth charges are exploding?

Does the noise from other ships around affect what they can hear? Can I go faster in the middle of a convoy rather than alone in the ocean or does it not matter at all?

The answers were that neither of these things affect destroyer passive detection.

Are these things different in SH4?

I highly doubt if this aspect of passive listening was changed between SH3 and SH4. Historically, the Japanese destroyers were worse in this regard, and outside of a few elite escorts, the stock game certainly reflected it, with many players complaining it was too easy to give them the slip.
