I am new here to the forums. I have been playing SH3 off and on since 2006. I tried to search engine in the forums and could not find anything concrete.

I use GWX3 with these mods:

MaGui GUI / Metal MaGui
Late War Sensors Snorkel Antennas
VIIC41 Players Sub
16km Atmosphere
M.E.P v2.1
Darker Water for M.E.P v2.1
TMT v2
GWX Contact Color

After reading Iron Coffins by Herbert Werner last week, I got all pumped up to use the type XXI boat. So I find myself in a career at Bergen in early 1945 with this bad a$$ boat. Only problem is that my radar is destroyed as soon as I start a mission. I know that SH3 has had issues like this before, but is there any way around it? Am I supposed to pick / or not pick something in the Upgrade Screen? I feel naked without the radar late in the war. Is there a way around this bug? Thanks.

I was fun though....to play with a couple of destroyers in shallow waters when I could blast off at 20kts submerged.

I've got an XXI mod that allows you to play with that boat from 1939 which also solves the radar destoyed issue. It's been a while since I created the mod so I'm not entirely sure how I did that part but if you enable the mod the problem should go away.

Maybe the VIIC/41 mod is interfering? :hmmm:

My thoughts exactly Wiess. Try disabling the VIIC mod. If that doesn't work then I dont know what will help

I have same prob. 12/44, XXI out of Bergen - Radar destroyed. VIIC 41 mod disabled. Still trying to figure out. Will post if I get it.

If you don't want to use the full mod try replacing the first three paragraphs in the [EQUIP4] section of basic.cfg with the following:

IIRC the issue was that the submarine model was looking for a radar but the basic.cfg did not allow the game engine to allocate that type of radar to the XXI.

Right on....thanks. However, I am fine with the mod the way it is. I think it would be fun to start an unrealistic yet very "fun" career from 1939 with an XXI.
