View Full Version : Farewell My Friend
Jimbuna

My father passed away earlier today after a short illness.
It is not unusual that I remain active on the internet during the day of his passing because I know he took great pride in what he did for the war effort during the great conflict we call WWII.
He was always happy when I'd visit him and explain some of the respectful threads this community often posted for those of his generation.
He was especially pleased at the interest my friends here (and in particular Sailor Steve) took in his efforts during the period.
My father was never a boastful person but he always appreciated those of the post WWII generation who gave recognition to those who gave their all to ensure a safe world for the future.
I would ask that nobody mourns his loss but rather that they remember him and his kind for the sacrifices and risks they made for all of us.
James Cook Musgrove 10-09-23...86 years young.

Always sad, when someone close to us dissapears from the surface of the earth, but it's the destiny for all of us. At least, he had a long and - hopefully - good life.
My condolences. :salute:

My generation will never be able to repay his - I doubt my classmates & I could do what those young men did 65-70 years ago.:nope:
Here's hoping that the good memories of your time together help overcome the pain.
He looked like a fine chap Jim, I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

IT never occured to me that you would mention to him that I even existed. I know we talked about him a little, and I still look at the service records you sent me from time to time. I'm just sorry I didn't get to meet him in person.
Fair thee well, old sailor.

Jim, to you and yours I will offer my deepest sympathies, since losing a loved one is never easy.
However - I will remind you - he and others of his generation are true heroes. You recall what they say of heroes - they truly never die, but fade or ride into the sunset as we honor their memory.
May his soul find its rest and shelter in the hand of the Creator.
