At 0550 on October 25th 1944, at 11deg56' N 126deg0'E, i found Taffey 3, and almost directly north bearing down on them was the largest radar signature i have ever seen. I haven't engaged yet, but holy COW! 2 yamato dreadnaughts and countless cruisers! I'll be up for a while...

You're in the battle of Leyte Gulf. I play RSRD and you can really enjoy that battle. You can easily catch the center force with the 2 Yamato class BB's coming through the San Bern Straits night of 25'th

I prefer the Surigao Straits the night before lil down south. A large JP TF comes through with two Fuso's, lots of CA's, DD's, ect, but are met by 2 US TF. It's a heck of a surface battle and noisy when all the ships open up. I blew several out of the water why US forces were blasting them.

If I have any torps left, I will hurry to the San Bern Straits, but almost always catch the center force outside of it coming south that morning. Usually I will pick up the US Jeep Carrier force running from it and have US and JP TF on radar, even some JP DD's attacking it, why US DD's fight back.

Per the Battle, the Center Force turns and heads back and let's the Jeep Carriers go on their way.

Sometimes the battle gets so big it slows my game rig down. I once had the Center Force with all those ships and two US TF, including all the jeep carriers with several squadrons of planes in the air, over 70 ships and once over 60 planes in attack formation giving battle.

Between all the contacts, DD's fighting and planes attacking makes for one big battle to watch and even better if you can join in. Last time I pulled over 20 US pilots out of the water during and after the battle

Do a little research, take note of the routes and positions and their dates/times.You can usually find this, esp in mods like RSRD, it follows history.

In stock I only located the Philippine Sea Battle Leyte Gulf, never could find Miday or Coral Sea.In TMO I have found them all except Coral Sea, mainly because no radar, much more difficult to locate.A lot of luck involved as it was in RL.

Some battles are easy to find like Leyte. Just park yourself in the San Bern Straits the night of Oct. 25, 44.

RSRD doe's a great job with the actual course they took. Take the battle of Midway. Instead of catching in near Midway, I ambush the carrier force coming through the Bungo Straits...think May 5. All the capital ships come through in one long row with few dd's.

Before the large battle of the Philippines Sea..There are two large TF's and at the right time they pass each other. I was chasing one and another popped up and they passed each other..here

However, as in history one of these TF is ported in the shallow harbor of Tawi Tawi before the battle and all the capital ships just line up in a row. Just attack at night, cuz you barely have room to dive, day planes will tear you up in TMO and go around the dd's, they catch you in 50ft of water...you're dead.

I probably have screens of every major battle and where I found them at different times. I once tried staying where the actual battle took place, now I take time to try and ambush them long before the battle in some place where I can get them in a strait. I may have to wait for days, but they usually show up.

Also, many medium and small battles are scripted well, even smaller battles between CA's and DD's. Also fun to watch US planes attack bases at the right time.

The one I posted has been around. I love the animated site. I'm big into civil war and it doe's those battles.

From playing RSRD so long, the animated is about right on, so that should help people find ships...just get the time down.

The only battle I sometime have trouble getting into is Coral Sea..even if I'm back at the same place and time where I found it before....wierd.
