I have been wondering if any of the Devs have thought about putting in Historical convoys in the game. I played at a gaming site online that a very talented person basicly rewrote the campaign in Sh3 and put in historical convoys and a precise times that they appeared during the war years 1939-1945. They are presently still playing the game using 1 -2 days realtime. We have updates everyso often that are added to game and everyone changes their campaign updates when he post the new update. Compositions of 50- 60 ships in convoys is not uncommon. This person is very savey of the time period and is a huge asset in our Wargaming community. He gets alot of his ship compostion from www.warsailors.com (http://www.warsailors.com) to be used in game.
It would be great if the Devs could do something like this for Silenthunter 5. If not they should get ahold of this person to get his input with you as he would luvworking for a company such as Ubisoft.
It would even be nicer if there will be an editor to making our own missions in sh5. So that a very detailed manual telling you how to use the editor to make your missions ,as in sh3 we finally figured it out but was a lot of work to be able to figure out all things need to know to make our own missions with a lot of detail..
We thankyou very much Ubisoft-Romania for sticking to the Silenthunter series and making it one of the most enjoyable and realistic Sub games that I have ever played and I know to a lot of other players appreciate your work even though we sometimes harp alot on content in game. We look forward to Silenthunter 5 and it looks like its shaping up as a very promising sequel to Sh3.
Thanks from the sub sim community

they could and they might do it to some degree as far as the times and places but its a "game" so to keep the game interesting to the masses i believe it will have to have too many targets and too much traffic to appeal to the most people.

if they held strictly to historic traffic it could turn off some customers as the game is boring with not enough "action" or things to shoot at and a game never wants to be refered to as boring with limited action.

you can rest assured that there will definately be realistic campaign traffic mods very quickly but from ubi side, having too much realism wouldnt be good for buisness to do it.

Hi U-5000

I believe a comprehensive historically accurate campaign file would be the backbone of any dynamic campaign.

I know only too well how much work such a herculean task would entail, but a split between historical accuracy and gameplay immersion in a dynamic campaign is a must IMHO http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

Maybe they'll make "Historic Traffic" vs "Heavy Traffic" an option?

IMO SHIII has too much traffic, of both ships and planes.
There comes a point where they hinder more than help gameplay too.

the planes in sh4 looked like rush hour on the freeway, a plane every mile from pearl to tokyo on a continued round trip flight path so you never had a plane out of sight without another one showing up.

i never knew japan had 250,000 planes and they could fly from tokyo to pearl and back non stop too :O:

i guess they brought the carriers all the way to pearl just in case a plane needed to stop off for lunch somewhere :D

Indeed, i would say a bit too much traffic, this could be a realism option. :hmmm:

I like this site myself I really don't see the reason why stuff like this should not be incorporated must be a time and labor cost issue.

I'm sure there will be numerous campaign modders up for the challenge.
