View Full Version : Crash to desktop with any Spy Sat mod.

I have 1.4b with GWX Gold installed correctly. If I install the GWX 3.0 SpySat mod through JSGME, it will make the game CTD anytime right before a mission starts, even after removing the mod. After installing and reinstalling the game, I tried SH3contacts, which caused the game to crash also until I restored the original files.

Any clues? This is weird :(

There is only one Spy Sat mod available that is compatible with GWX Gold.

That is Jimbuna's version. I have a couple of links available but I know there was a file revision after initial release, so it maybe be best if Jim points you in the direction of the correct one.

Having not used this mod for awhile now, I can't recall exactly the details, however the mod extensively overwrites the campaign files and in the case of older Spy Mods scripts vessels that are no longer in GWX (or re-designated).

Jim's SpySat is cool. It gives you a lot of info, but it is probably similar to what occurred in real life. There was a lot of radio traffic between U-boats and BDU because Donitz insisted on control of all the boats. As a result, I suspect that a lot of radio traffic occurred that didn't relate to the individual boat.
In Jimbuna's SpySat, there is a lot of traffic about contacts which you have no hope of engaging as they are too far away, but it does alert you to some that are close.
As far as SH3Contacts, I have used this tool for testing since it was released by Nicholas, and I have found it valuable. In all the time I have used it, I have never had any problems, including no CTD. it is important to not activate any mods that change to campaign files after you have run the program, or you will screwup your install and cause CTD.
