Hi everybody! I haven't played Sh3 for 6 months but with all the fuss about sh5, i couldn't resist anymore and start a new carrier with GWX gold and sh3 commander. First, thanks to anyone involved in those differents mods, they did an amazing job!
I made four patrols in a tiny type IIA and managed to sink 7 ships for 26.800 tons and badly damaged one small merchant. My goal is not to reach tonnage records but to feel 'realistic' and to act accordingly to the situation.
And today i had one of my best sh3 moment. I was between Orkneys and Shetland, 6 jan 1940, visibility moderate, no contacts for days, 3 torpedoes available when i picked a strange noise on the hydrophon. I checked minutes later and it seems like it was closing so i estimate the course and supposed position ( i have no map contact update, no external view...). After one hour of hydrophon and periscop check, i finally saw smokes on the horizon and soon after i saw 2 ships but it was not accurate: i thought it was a destroyer and a merchant behind. Their course was not what i thought it was so i try to put my sub on an interception course but it was too late... And after several minutes i found out that in fact a light cruiser type dido or fidji was followed by two auxiliary cruisers! speed estimated to 15-16 knots, dist 4000-4500m. The sun was rising by the moment and it was very beautiful, i fired a torpedoe to the last cruiser but it failed... I had a real good time seeing these ships that i almost never see! In four years of playing i sunk only 1 battleship 2 aircraft carriers and 2 light cruisers ( i don't speak about convoy battleship doing a 7 knots or harbour attacks i mean true task forces running at 22knots)
I just hope sh5 will offer intense scenes like that but well, wait and see!
And are there other people here who start a new carrier just because they can't wait for sh5?? :arrgh!:
