having played SH3 for the last 4 years i only usually play in the winter months or when I am actually at sea on a real submarine to pass the long boring hours, this winter so far i have managed to recruit 8 fellow submariners into playing SH3 with GWX Gold. At work I have now noticed the following symptoms of my newly recruited Kaleuns:-
1. Black Rings under the eyes from patrolling past midnight during the week
2. Whispering in corners about personal tactics or battles from the night before
3. Making excuses about DIY tasks and avoiding nights out down the pub, and then discovering they were up till 4am in the Straights of Gibraltar
4.Giving thier wives spending money to go into town all day on a weekend so that they can finally attack that convoy they have been shadowing all week
5. Spending hours loafing at work on the computer googling SH3 videos and tactics on YouTube
Its quite comical to see them all and how they are developing into thier own little wolfpack, i guess this is what I was like 4 years ago and admitably I do stay up late just to hit that convoy one more time, but when real-life submariners are spending the working day planning thier attacks for a submarine simulator in the evenings, questions need to be asked :haha:
It's time to worry when you hear your co-workers reply with "Jawohl, Herr Kaleun" after they get tasks assigned to them.

If only life on a real submarine was half as exciting as SH3, listening to North Atlantic Prawns migrating south is as good as it gets most of the time:nope:

It must be very gratifying to be the leader of your own wolfpack http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif

Someone who works and lives in a ship plays a game about ships.
Now that's bizzare!
The year is 1980 - dead middle of the Cold War - the place - V Corps HQ, Frankfurt am Main. The time - near midnight. You are part of a German cleaning crew - routine night so far. Suddenly ....
As you approach the communications center, you hear chanting. Coming in view of the interior of the darkened room, you see several US Army soldiers, sitting around a table, with flashlights shining on their faces from below - making an eerie scene. The chant? "Nuke 'em til they glow ... Nuke 'em til they glow ..."
In actuality - me and a bunch of bored out of our mind techs on the mid shift, playing a game of Nuclear War - but you can just imagine the reaction of the Germans!
You REALLY don't wanna know about the faked air strike on Cambodia "overheard" by some people using the military lines to call home 'mid 76 .....
Moral of the story - bored soldiers are liable to do bloody near anything ......

The old ones rise from the grave and walk among us, dictating our every thoughts about a return to the past

we are now considering swapping our cap badges for swordfish emblems so we are able to recognise fellow Kaleuns around the dockyard, we think this would be less inappropriate than wearing a knights cross on our Royal Navy uniforms :O:

Been there and done that....but you are an important crew member, and take pride in what you are doing. Do you still mess with the Officers? That is after a watch change, and the new Diving Officer trims the Boat, do your fellow crew members start moving for and aft to mess with his trim?
