Ok, so in my current patrol on December 26, 1941 I got a radio report of a large convoy nearby. I swung my carrier around to intercept. Well, as fast as a carrier does swing I guess. As I am approaching I can see on radar that all the escorts are in the rear of the convoy and are circling. That can only mean one thing... they are hunting uboats.
Upon getting closer I see a radar contact for a sub in the middle of the circle. I step up to ahead flank. This has now become a rescue operation. If they are on the service, they will need some backup. Maybe an extra 40 guns will help. As I get closer I get another sub on the radar. I'm thinking this is my only chance to see an sclass and a uboat duking it out on the surface, so I jump in the free cam and fly over for a look. What I find though, is quite different...
Instead of an sclass I find a second uboat! Yes, that's right. I'm assisting two uboats attacking a convoy. :o What is more, while I am over enjoying the scenery, I watch the uboats sink two escorts. :yeah: I come in ahead of the convoy at 35 knots and open fire at range quickly taking out a handful of merchants while I wait for a clear shot at the escorts. I don't want to take out any uboats, now do I? As I fly by, the angle changes and I get a good view of one of the three remaining escorts. I open fire and before a shell even hits another fire starts on his deck! We've selected the same target it seems.
Well, being as how I'm driving a ship the size of the whole convoy with 40 guns and armor that can't be pierced by any guns in the area, I sank the whole convoy in no time. At the end of it all, one boat is low in the bow and the other is a little low in the stern. Both are still manning the guns and underway. :salute: I think we'll call that a success!
