Today I finally decided to do a bit of research into an old bayonet that my father gave me a long time ago that he got from a friend during his stint in the US Army in Germany back in the '60s. For a long time I had wondered what the words "Waffenfabrik Neuhausen" ment cause at the time I didn't understand German but I know now that it means Weapons Factory ,Neuhausen, which lead me to belive that it was a German bayonet from World War One due to the sawback blade which was used on bayonets of that time. But it turns out that it isn't German but SWISS!!!! Heres some info in the type of bayonet that I own.

One time, talking to a friend, he said that veterans would advise the new and younger trops not to use that bayonet model because the alied trops showed no mercy to any german soldier that was find with this model.

Yowch RM, that's one butcher knife, and in good condiction too!

Here's my own little piece of history, you'll have to excuse the slight blurriness, still getting used to this new camera...

It came from my Grandfather who was a Marine after the war, I believe he picked it up in Germany although it's quite possible that he got it from his father who served in the war. He also had a Luger but regrettably, that was lost many years ago.

According to the stamp on the blade it's Solingen steel made in 1936 by Gebrüder Grafrath, Solingen-Widden. If any detail shots are required, and if my camera plays ball, I will be happy to provide :)

Oberon, I'd keep that off the forum. The nanny police will be around as you might ***** yourself, or god forbid that knife could fall into the wrong hands.

lol

Yes my comments were sarcastic, you know what we are like in the UK about knives and guns jumpy.

What has made me laugh is that the subsim language moderator can't figure out context.

I type in ***** as in '***** your finger' and it censors it.

Priceless.

Too true though Xabba, I'll have Gordo himself at the door with the whole British army and SAS backup before long.

hehe, thought so... still got my 'other more rabid forum' head on  warps perspective, like the forums context understanding; S****horpe! see?! it's doing it again! :haha:

I dread to think what the old bill would say when I'm out walking with my rucksack on, full of camping gear, folding saw, chunky knife (similar in design to Oberons) and other stuff you wouldn't be expecting. Never know when you night need 'em in the wilds of the Midlands.

The prospect of nambie-pambies seeing me when I'm out shooting and spoiling my lawful fun with a visit from the flying squad, never ceases to bother me though. :shifty:

:har:

The fact that a few have wrecked it for the majority I think is Britains biggest truth at the moment, I mean I don't agree with shooting but I'm not going to go out and tell you that you can't do it...it's a free country for chrissake, that's what we fought a World War for!
And Jim, I fully expect Gordo to come cap in hand next week when I get my payslip through...perhaps I should declare bankrupcy and get the government to bail me out...? Might get a promotion at work for that too... :hmmm:
